Top Oil Company Executives Retool Responses on Energy Task Force Roles
snip...

The story began last month, when executives were asked by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) at a hearing if their companies participated in Vice President Cheney's energy task force in 2001.

...snip...(The piece gives accounts of the oil executives' restatements concerning what they told the Congressional committee investigation about their companies' participation in the energy task force.)

Lautenberg, who has asked the Justice Department to investigate the executives' testimony, said he is not satisfied. "These responses are corporate doublespeak that only further demonstrate the need for a criminal investigation," he said yesterday.

So, more activity for investigating the corruption that has overtaken McCorporateGovernment.

2. Even without being under oath it is illegal to lie to Congress
It may just be that becuase of Stevens these guys got a false sense of liability. He may have without meaning to set these guys up. If they openly lied and there is evidence to that lie then they can be charged with a crime. Let us keep our fingers crossed.
