"Representative #1" Names His Price

Washington, DC - In pleading guilty to conspiring to bribe a public
official, scandal-plagued lobbyist Michael Scanlon revealed Republican
Representative Bob Ney's "price tag" for supporting his clients.
Roll Call today reported that, according to the plea agreement,
Ney-referred to as "Representative #1"-agreed "to place a
statement drafted by Scanlon in the Congressional Record" in return
for $14,000 in campaign contributions from Scanlon and his associates.

Roll Call reported on Ney's price tag on the same day that California
Republican Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham pleaded guilty to tax
evasion and conspiracy and resigned from the House of Representatives
after accepting $2.4 million in bribes in return for political favors on
behalf of a defense contractor.

Democratic National Committee Spokesman Damien LaVera today called on
Ney to follow Cunningham's example by admitting his role in the
culture of corruption that Republicans have brought to Columbus and
Washington.

"Republican Congressman Bob Ney has secured his place as one of the
leaders of the culture of corruption that Republicans have brought to
Washington and Columbus by spearheading Michael Scanlon's special
interest agenda," said LaVera. "Just as Representative Cunningham
finally accepted responsibility for his role in the culture of
corruption, it is time for Representative Ney to explain to Ohio voters
why he was more interested in serving Michael Scanlon's clients than
in fighting for the people of the Buckeye State.

"Democrats know that America can do better. Democrats are committed
to restoring honesty and transparency to the democratic process and to
real ethics reform that will provide the American people and the voters
of Ohio with elected officials who fight for them instead of for
powerful special interests."

5. Speaking of frying.....he was "Freedom Fries" guy.
I remember talking to his office when that happened, and they were so completely fine with changing French Fries to Freedom Fries. They were so stunned that I thought it was silly and tasteless. It was almost funny to them.

4. This is great - Glad the DNC is keeping the pressure on.
They know the GOP is corrupt, they should be certain the voting machines are corrupted, too.

7. That's far from what he got!!
He got a $100,000 trip to play golf in Scotland, about $30,000 in PAC contributions, a casino trip to UK where reported winning just enough money to pay off his credit cards, free meals in up scale D.C. bistros, and the list goes on and on... Want to see what he got? Go to href="http://www.NeyPetition.org"]http://www.NeyPetition.org and you can see a list of what he has got and done.
