13. Thanks slinkerwink. More in entitlements, directed to Dean
Tom: cost of medicare will break the bank.

Kerry, in 19 years in senate, sponsered tons of health
care bills and none passed. Dean will get results, as
he did in Vermont!

Response from Kerry: Gotta know how things work in congress
to get things done. (Burn.) Get things passed in bills
where his name isn't affixed. We passed bills Kerry wrote
(he named them, Ryan White...).
We got a lot done...Harry Truman...

57. Edwards question, doctors driven out of business by malpractice suits
Question: Cap on malpractice awards the BFEE wants?

Edwards: Answer, we have best legal system, not perfect.
Need fresh ideas...
Drs can't get reimbursed by HMOs, and malpractice fees going up.
Responsibility should be on lawywers and make sure case is
valid. Keep bogus cases out of system.

Sharpton: Advocates single payer plan (APPLAUSE).
Like Canada.
Others don't go far enough.
Must be single payer!
Take on Rx industry (applause), allowed to do whatever
they want due to DEREGULATION.
Hold Rx companies accountable.
APPLAUSE!

88. Clark takes a moderate approach
I liked his answer in that he went into greater detail than the other candidates and specifically said he was going to provide some legal protections to doctors to avoid liability. Edwards came off very weak on that trial attorneys question.

101. Clark getting wonkish on health care - good!
Health care response: it's a part of Clark's platform I'm less enthused about then some others, but I've been saying to people this past week that he needs to get wonkish again. Seriously. That's one reason people got into Draft Clark in the first place, that he was someone with both a vision and a handle on the details. In some previous debates he's been too vague on the domestic questions; tonight he's doing much better at showing that yes, Wes Clark does have a domestic policy agenda, he's not just a one-issue candidate.
