Fireside chat

GOP senator suggests ‘fireside chat’ on war
Warner says it could bring Bush closer to American people

WASHINGTON - The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee on Sunday suggested that President Bush use an FDR-style presentation to update people on progress in the war in Iraq.

I think that would be great -- you can imagine how well he would do that. I say the more the merrier -- the longer the chat the better -- maybe he should do one every day. :)

Later in the article:

Bush plans a speech Wednesday at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., on the fight against terrorism.

Wow, something new! Giving a speech to a military audience!

2. Well
. . .I wasn't thinking of us. Remember this is a guy who always loses ground when he campaigns in a state. The more people here him talk, the more his numbers will drop.

6. Warner has been one of the stupidest people...
... in Washington, and he hasn't improved with age. :)

What Roosevelt did during his fireside chats was reassure people, get them to mitigate their fears and have some trust that others were working in their best interests. Bush couldn't do that, convincingly, even with a gun to his head.

The weekly Saturday radio address by the President was already supposed to be an outgrowth of Roosevelt's fireside chats, so how does a time slot change affect Bush's general message of "terra all the time?" It doesn't.

Doofus is as doofus does.

9. The Time For Fireside Chats is Long Gone
Edited on Mon Nov-28-05 02:01 AM by Romach
Action speaks louder than words and the American public is looking for action from this Administration and not words. Bad policy has turned this public into a cynical public and a "chat" will exacerbate that cynicism. The media will pick up on policy course corrections once corrections have been affected. If the Administration truly cares about the public interest, then it will save the talk and start turning this nation around.

11. Another example of the Republicans spitting on FDR's grave
I'm sorry, but I see it as this. Let's use a technique that a Great Democratic President, who could speak well, used during his time in office and let a little retard, that can hardly speak correctly, ruin it. Maybe I feel this way, because I grew up & live in an area of the country where FDR is a local hero, or it is that FDR is considered a classic example of what President should be like. It's bad enough Bush along with the rest of the repukes what to or have destoryed what FDR did for this country, along with what most of the other great presidents did. But I just don't like it.

12. I think it would be most amusing. Here's a person who cannot
string a coherent sentence together without the aid of prompts, and even then he mangles the language. HAving said that, I don't think I could bear to waste my time watching, as he always speaks with forked tongue.:evilfrown:
