One of my Republican relatives admitted * is "stupid" tonight.
It happened after the Thanksgiving meal...

Democratic Aunt: But you have to admit Bush is really stupid.

Republican 2nd cousin-in-law: Oh yeah, he's stupid.

Democratic Aunt: He listened to much to Cheney. Cheney is corrupt.

Republican 2nd cousin-in-law: Yeah, he relied on Cheney way to much. I'm for Guiliani. Anybody who can fix N.Y. can fix America...

Anybody else have similar experiences with Republican relatives this Thanksgiving?

1. Not me.
I have alienated them all to the degree they avoid me. As cold as it sounds it feels great.

2. No, Got a dumb, Rush-esq email from my bro the other day...
Wrote quite a rebuttal and doubt I will hear from him again. Every few months, he sends some crap and I have to slap it down. He isn't getting it nor does he seem to remember ANYTHING about me or how we were raised.

His brain is fried. I am sad. He just can't seem be get past whatever crap some fool bigot sends him. Lack of critical abilities I think.

Are some people so invested in being accepted they will parrot drivel?

3. Yeah, they are
I have a sister like that.

She's so gone, she's still cackling about Fuckface's "victory" in 2004. She just keeps blathering about how "we're all laughing at you."

We aren't in touch. Surprise, huh? I think there are a lot of sibling sets like ours, my friend.

But, Happy Thanksgiving! We're the fortunate ones, are we not?

21. Fortinate ones, yes we are.
I much prefer reality, even the pain that goes with it, to delusions. The only things I have which cannot be taken away by someone eles:
Integrity
Mindfulness

I'll keep those. They are good company and have sustained me. All else is transatory and there's no such thing as 'secruity' no matter what you give up or who's ass ya kiss. ;)

4. Is he involved in a church? No offense
to churchgoers, but my brother is the same way and I attribute his thinking to what he's been taught in church for years. That's the only thing I can attribute his thinking to.

5. Same thing happened to me
President Laughing Boy was on CNN and one of my cousins, a Dem., made the remark, "Isn't he stupid?" To which another one, usually a very strong Rep., responded, "He should just get out. Get out. Get out!" I almost cheered!

:7

There is hope! There is!

9. For a paranoid nutcase
he wasn't so bad. Nixon was a rank amateur next to these guys. And he started the EPA. And stopped the BIA from excising NA tribes from their roles.

Bush is like an imperfect storm.

12. And despite his paranoia, Nixon was intelligent.
* has nothing to balance out his own paranoia except for hitting the bottle.

11. Ya know, with the Republican Presidents we've had since Nixon,
if you take it on a comparison basis only, well, he was great. They've had Ford, Reagan, Bush41, and Bush43. Nixon does look good up against that bunch.

Especially during a holiday get-together.

(edited for confusing grammar--ate too much turkey today, I guess.)

10. My conservative friends HATE Bush
My lifelong Republican friends HATE Bush. And Cheney. And Condi. And Rummy. As passionately as I do. Boy -- do we EVER have a lot of common ground these days!!

The only people I know who support Bush and Cheney et al. are pathological. Barking mad -- apologies to dogs.

13. A typical Republican ~ never admit to a mistake or accept responsibility
It isn't Bush* or Cheney, it is the Republican Party. All this shit started long before Bush* came on the scene. with Bush* the power just got concentrated and limitless. Democrats became irrelevent and probably still are because of people like your republican cousin in law. He still plans on voting Republican and wants to cast all blame on Bush* or cheney to set his own mind free. It is the Republican Party that is bringing down America not Bush* or Cheney....

to help him. God these people are stupid!

15. I had a very interesting Thanksgiving,
My brother who refuses to listen to anything against the repubs brought a lady friend to dinner. I couldn't believe when I heard her saying they have different views on politics because she is democrat and he (my brother) is independent. My brother independent? How deceitful is that. The person who thinks Rush is the smartest man he knows and Bill OReilly is fair and balanced. He pushes repub views down your throat but refuses to listen or read anything that would dispute his beliefs. To top it off, she is a psychologist. I sure wish I was a fly on the wall.

17. Hopefully she'll be good for him
She's probably just what he needs. If she's a psychologist, maybe she'll be effective getting through to him in a positive way. My sister has that affect on her husband. He's also an "Independent" but tends to lean right until she straightens him out. ;)

24. years ago (before the 2000 selection),
A nazi party member admitted to me that she knew GW Hoover was stupid ... but she voted for him anyway. Her excuse? That he "surrounded himself w/smart people." What fscking bullshit. I hope she's enjoying the 2nd Great Depression that her "bud" GW Hoover caused.
