The More Bush Howls About Iraq, The Worse His Numbers Get
Ap/Ipsos 36% approval, CNN/Gallup 37%. Pretty ugly stuff.

And now Rasmussen?

In the first full polling cycles since his Friday evening Iraq Blame-A-Thon and "I Am Not A Liar" fest, Bush's numbers have even fallen in the one poll that has traditionally been his most supportive.

Last Sunday: 46% Approval, 53% Disapproval

Today (11/16): 42% Approval, 56% Disapproval

Has it finally gotten to the point where Bush's old tricks can no longer help him get past a bad patch? Have people grown so distrustful of this president that no matter what he says on the topic of Iraq things get worse for him?

1. He's lost the hearts and minds of his own country. What a loser.
The "war" is lost. It's over.

Bring them home.

3. To the question in your post...
"Has it finally gotten to the point where Bush's old tricks can no longer help him get past a bad patch? Have people grown so distrustful of this president that no matter what he says on the topic of Iraq things get worse for him?"

The unequivocal answer is "yes".

5. I am sure Rove is about to try...something
...and there is no guarantee it will work. Hell, the war speech may be *the something* that Rove dreamed up.

I hope he has the worst acid indigestion and colon that won't stop blowing.

4. His focus on Iraq is puzzling
Edited on Wed Nov-16-05 10:04 AM by leftofthedial
It's a huge risk to call attention to one's own failures and crimes.

HE is the self-proclaimed "war president."

HE is the "Mission Accomplished" dress-up guy.

Iraq is HIS war. He can't run from that.

Iraq is a disaster. He can't run from that.

So every time he opens his pie hole and yaps about the war, he just ups the "Bush is a lying imbecile" meter.
