the WH won't rule out torture
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1922909cheney's actively seeking the freedom to torture (what a tortured definition of freedom) and mccain's actively pushing for explicit anti-torture policy, bush says, "we do not torture," and the WH then refuses to rule it out.
There's something to tap here, a divide that puts bush in the position of defending torture. Maybe more importantly, it puts his remaining defenders and allies, in the position of defending torture (can't wait to hear pat robertson pray for torture).
Remember how the press and the freedom/prosperity haters bashed Clinton with that line over and over again? I mean, how many times have you seen Clinton's "did not have sexual relations" clip?
When I heard bush, saw him, make the claim, the rare, flat-out claim that "we do not torture" it just hit me as a similar moment. Split screens of bush procaiming such humanity with newly released pics of the US torturing Iraqis should be all over tv.
What effect would it have on the American people's growing unease with bush if, either via corp media, or Dem/allies ads, those words of bush's are played over and over surrounded by proof to the contrary?
