Warner taking trip to N.H. Governor says little about next week's visit,
or possible lift by Kaine to presidential prospects

<snip>
Warner, a Democratic presidential prospect in 2008 whose fortunes were buoyed this week by Lt. Gov. Timothy M. Kaine's victory for governor, heads to the first-primary state next week for a day of policy and politics.

Warner yesterday had little to say about the trip or the possible benefits of the Kaine triumph, which has been attributed in part to the popularity of Warner's centrist policies.

Warner also will meet privately with another member of the Kennedy school faculty, former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, a Democrat - perhaps picking up pointers on her state's politics.

Warner then motors north to New Hampshire, where on Friday, he and Gov. John Lynch, a Democrat, will lead a roundtable discussion on high school dropout prevention - the issue on which Warner focused during his chairmanship of the National Governors Association.

In New Hampshire, Warner, who has established a national political-action committee in a first step toward a possible run for president, also will have lunch with Democratic state legislators.
