When zarqawi attempted to overthrow the Jordan monarchy in '92 was that Clinton's fault?
How about in '99 when he was on the bombing of the Raddison hotel in Amman, Jordan, which Jordan later sentenced him to death for?
He's not some new kid on the block, he's had a beef with Jordan for years.

He can't be fictional, can he???
On Democracy Now today Amy Goodman had a lengthly talk with an Italian journalist who did a mini-biography on this man. She also stated he "hated" Saddam... then added that Saddam DIDN'T "hate" him, Saddam DIDN'T even KNOW who he was!! It was NEVER his aim to be in Iraq!
This WH had propelled this man, and NOW the world is having to pay the price!

He is no "fiction". This is tinfoil silliness, the guy is indeed a "lunatic". They have theirs, we have ours, now they are in a dance of death together.

have been conned into believing he is. In fact, like OBL, he is probably long dead since numerous accounts of both of their deaths have surfaced over the years and since they are miraculously never captured or killed/identified, they probably died long ago.
They have been used as a mythological boogie man for those people silly enough to fall for this propaganda.
No tinfoil...just a con job.

Whipping up such a HUGE insurgency in Iraq, spreading terror ALL OVER the globe and doing it all with 160,000 American troops keeping him "on the run"!!! My goodness. How does he pull it off?

aggression, and then everyone would be happy, sing Kum Ba Ya and all would be right with the world.
Guerilla fighters in Iraq must simply surrender.
Palestinians should recognize the Zionist's agenda to expand Israel's borders to their biblically rightful place.
Venezuela's president should resign and allow one of Bush's cronies to take over the presidency.
I like the way you think. Things would be much more peaceful if our enemies would simply surrender. Why not email them your suggestion

 |
Were you saying this back in 1999 when he was killing his own people before we stepped foot in Iraq?
The enemy of my enemy is not always my freind.
But hey, if you think wanton slaughter is the most effective means to reaching your political objectives, then you better back off BushCo. Because they would agree.
I wasn't aware that Chavez was blowing up people, please clue me in.

He's no more glorious than Smirky's Band of Shock N. Awe murderers.
why do you think the people who fight for the 84% of Iraqi's public who want to drive the U.S. out of Iraq, are any worse than the people blowing up women, children and men and frying them with phosphorous?
Just rank American Nationalism, or is there something more here to discuss?

Bin Laden too. I mean, here are two supposedly very capable terrorists able to whip up hordes of followers who blow themselves up on demand, who have undertaken actions in various parts of the world seemingly unchecked, and who our much vaunted military and intelligence community just cannot bring to justice, but yet, their very actions seem to occur at just the moment Bush could use a terra distraction.
Alito, secret detention centers, GOP divisions, stinging losses in statewide elections, poll numbers down, investigations brewing, and voila! Here's Zarqawi, our 1-then-2-then-1 legged terrorists du jour, popping up stage-left to cry out, "hey, look over here, will ya?", and then up pops Condi or Dicky (or someone else) who says, "see what we're up against? Torture is good! Give us the power to save the day!"
For guys who seem scrappy and smart enough to elude every military and intelligence unit from the Western hemisphere, they sure do play right into their hands it seems.
Are they that stupid? Or that smart? Hard to figure out. It certainly strains credibility.

The * admin needs a villain it can demonize. Of course they had the perfect one and they made such a big fuckin deal about catching him that everybody sorta noticed when they didn't. So of course you never hear anything about bin laden anymore. Even if Zarqawi didn't exist they'd have to invent him.

A theory: The more that the West must pour in with money and lives to combat the destruction the more that it weakens those countries ecomically and the citizen's support for the ME policies of Western domination.

Very doubtful these things are done by either Zarqawi or AlQaeda...nothing to be gained for them....EVERYTHING to be gained by the coalition forces and their silent allies.
Read 1984 and focus on the usefulness of an contrived omnipotent villain like OBL or Zarqawi. Very handy.

Edited on Fri Nov-11-05 06:07 PM by DeepModem Mom
that there was at least one DUer, me, who believes that Al Qaeda exists and engages in terror. Hideous terror. (That said, the disastrous war in Iraq, has aided the cause of terrorists.)
And the manner in which we have conducted the war in Iraq, while inexcusable, does not excuse terrorists who dedicate their lives, and some their own deaths, to murdering innocents, and keeping as many others as possible in fear.

| 27. Some time ago, a Help Wanted ad appeared in Arab newspapers |
 |
It said: "WANTED, DEAD OR ALIVE: Chief Terrorist and All-Purpose Bogeyman to replace Terrorist/Bogeyman who has kidney failure. Will train. We would prefer a live Chief Terrorist/Bogeyman, but will consider a worthy dead one. Must wear some sort of Arabic-looking dress, such as funny head scarf. MUST NOT SPEAK ENGLISH. (We will provide all translations of your "fatwas" and other statements.)"
Soon a likely candidate appeared and "Zarqawi" became the New Bad Guy.
