I'm heavily involved in politics and I pay taxes
pat robertson, et al, are heavily involved in politics and don't pay taxes. Should they have their tax exempt status revoked or should I, and every other person involved in politics get tax exempt status. I truly do not understand how a religion gets tax exempt status then works overtime to change the laws of the land, based on their tax exempt religious beliefs.

The yahoos in texas don't want people who love each other to get married because of their religious beliefs, now the yahoos are talking about working against people who get divorced.

PUSHING LEGISLATION WHICH HAS NO EFFECT ON THEM, IN A TAX EXEMPT STATUS. What am I missing?

1. How this crowd gets by with using the pulpit to
get their politics across to their flock has amazed me for years. I was sure there were laws against this.

3. Taxes.
Probably the single most powerful force in the world.

Taxes on wages (payroll and income) keep wages low and people unemployed.
Taxes on sales keep people from buying the things they need and want, and keep people out of work selling them or making them.
Taxes on productive investment keep people from getting the machines, buildings, and equipment they need to do their job better, safer, faster, and with less effect on the environmnent.

Pretty much leaves taxes on land, and natural resources, and user fees. But churches generally don't pay a property tax either.

4. Tax churches
If they aren't legitimately nonprofit (meaning give away 50%+ of your net assets every year). Why is this a hard concept for Americans to grasp? We could pay for universal health care overnight just by taxing the Roman Catholic church's take.
