Wait, how did Kaine win?
Isn't there diebold? I thought Democrats didn't win elections anymore.

1. I think there comes a point
when the actual vastness in numbers becomes so grand that they cant alter the vote without looking suspicious. Perhaps Kaine is winning by 10% not 5%

6. So true!
I'm sure there is a formula out there, whereby a gap between a Dem and a Rep is too wide to be tampered with (lest people start asking questions) ...

But I'm also sure that they use Diebold numbers to lessen the gap between the two parties. The fact is that if a Dem wins, they're not likely to question the vote. But the Repugs can lessen the gap (via Diebold) and walk away saying, "Well, folks, the closeness of the race shows that Mr. Repug's ideas are very popular with the citizenry," etc. How many 'close' races in the past have been not so close after all?

they can be with any electronic or computerized machines.

7. Just a thought
But this was only a election for state governor - not federal. We can't ignore the need for election reform, including the voting machines. Even though I think Ohio was stolen by fraud, next year the Repukes should be in such turmoil that they don't dare try it.

here's a link to the voting systems used in Virginia, and who manufactures the machines in each city or county...notice that Diebold and ESS have a few, but the vast majority are not Diebold.\

http://www.sbe.virginia.gov/cms/Election_Information/Voting_Systems_Ballots/Index.html

Ohio was stolen in 2004, as was Florida in 2000. Verified fact.

23. Is that how the machines work?
I'm confused. I thought the machines managed everything. That seems like a pretty weak conspiracy to suggest that the machines only give a five point edge. It's kind of like suggesting that the Grassy Knoll got a "head start".

25. To what height of suspicion should a theory of one's motive
be questioned and thank you for questioning the validity of the dems wins - we must now go back to check the voting records OHIO in 04.

Oh wait . . . we can't. There is no record of the votes.

Sorry. But thanks for the thought.

18. Kaine won
because people liked warner and wanted to continue along hte path that warner set. Kaine had great turnout in Northern virginia and did strongly across the state. Negative ads run by Kilgore backfired against him.

Kind of confused because it seems like post count is barometer of how much of a Democrat I am with below 100 being a Republican. I'm wondering why you didn't assume I was happy to begin with. Low post count=just found DU.

What is it?

A low count means nothing. A low post count and an OP like that raises eyebrows.

kaine ----65%
kilgore---33%

Thats called getting your ass kicked.

On the voting machine deal, we had huge proglems with them in VA. So bad that the Fairfax County Republicans & Democrats ( freaked out about macihnes.

They're not Diebold.

If you think there is no problem with Diebold, ask the Arnie Scty of State designee who banned them...or better yet, look at the all-Diebold results for Ohio's special electionss. these were all closein the polls, now they're all 2-1 smack downs.

in va we run the executive branch. warner didn't get the award for best managed state for nothing.

when the a.g.'s race was looking like a R win, warner went on tv and told the press not to call it and shouted 'we're fighting for every vote.' little different when it's warner and not jeb, a human scty of state and not patricia harris.

how sweet is is. two to one in a area that kerry carried by only 6 points 12 months ago, a 20+% victory.

30. That, and Kaine being upfront and comfortable
with his religious beliefs. You don't have to denigrate or attack other religions or the people who follow them to be a good Christian - or to get elected for that matter. The people of Virginia were reacting to the corrupt, degrading use of their faiths and beliefs in selfish ways by politicians, especially the Bush regime and his Republican zealots.

Diebold just closed the gap.

Exit polls would have proved this, that why THEY made sure there were none...

Welcome to DU, now stop questioning their orthodoxy.

I wouldn't be surprised to find a contigent around here upset that we pulled out all the wins tonight because now they can't whine about Diebold.
