Edwards Supporters: Anyone have a link to an article on his history?
I read the KC Star article and found it too short.

I'm hoping for something in-depth like the Boston Globe article on Kerry, or the Time piece on Dean.

I've liked Edwards, but thought of him until recently as more of a possible for 2008 just getting his feet wet this time around.

But with Dean's firing of Trippi (Trippi was the Dean campaign IMHO the same way Carville was the 92 Clinton campaign) and with Clark (my 1st choice) just not doing well, and just not deliviring the fire in the speeches - made me look for the bestalt...which leads me to Edwards.

1. Here's one article--not that great, and a little out of date, but

2. Thanks for the links
All good but still too short.

Have any links to articles that provide a really detailed history of the candidate?

Thanks

3. Try Googling "Patriot Act Co-Author"
You'll get an Edwards history lesson that way, for sure.

4. Good point for anyone considering Edwards
Exactly which parts did he write? Not all of the Patriot act is bad per se...a lot of it deals with increasing police presence around national landmarks, sending more money to first responders...etc. Stuff that was long in coming.

However, a lot of it is downright scary...

6. Don't believe it.
It's just more misinformation being smeared around by a Dean supporter.

It gets tiring.

5. Check your facts
Edwards DID NOT co-author the Patriot Act.

How many times does that have to be said? Jeez.

8. Have you even seen the Bill?
Edwards didn't write the patriot act, and he didn't even co-sponsor it.

Bob Graham did Co-write the patriot act.

13. Wow. I can feel that knee jerking.
The act's not all that bad. Only certain portains of it are intrusive. It's not some single-issue monolithic entity.

It blows his horn way more that the book, Four Trials. Nonehtheless, Four Trials is the best insight into Edwards.

So, spend 16 bucks and check out the book.

15. The book is great.
My husband, who I've always suspected wouldn't read a book at gun point, sat on the sofa and read the book in one Saturday, totally engrossed.

Then he said - let's go to Iowa.

Unbelievable. This is a guy who "always votes for the winners" Reagan - Clinton - Al Gore.

I'm the born and raised Democrat in the house. His family won't discuss politics and thinks politics is a dirty word. He was sold.

Read the book.

14. Go to DU home page , look to the side click on a web page
he has written a book that I think you can order, giving his views for the next 4 years...
He was born in South Carolina, grew up in North Carolina, very popular in High School..tried to get a Scholar Ship for football to a South Carolina School, may have been Clemson..he couldn't make it in College ball, so he came home to go to school at North Carolina State ..he worked to help pay his way, upon graduation, he entered Law School at Chapel Hill...University of North Carolina, it was there he met Elizabeth his wife, they went to Law School together. From there he went on to be a lawyer, trying to defend little people who needed his help against company lawyers. and he won and won and won...Then he decided to become or try to become Senator of North Carolina in Jesse Helms and that he did, which I see as quiet and accomplishment.

You may hear some from North Carolina call in to CSPAN complaining about him taking time to run for President, but they will always fail to say , John Edwards visited every County in his district, since he was elected Senator of North Carolin, just consider then Republicans acting in a Jesse Helm's manor.

16. La Times did a profile
that summarizes "Four Trials" about a week before Iowa.

It may still be on line if you can find candidate profiles at LA Times.
