FBI Called!Senator Grassley get's Bomb Threat and his Staffer Bludgeoned
Edited on Mon Nov-07-05 10:07 PM by KoKo01
FBI called in on Hill
By Bob Cusack and Jackie Kucinich

The FBI and Capitol Police are investigating the vicious attack of a top Senate staffer at her home last week amid concerns that the assault might be related to her work on the Finance Committee.

Emilia DiSanto, chief investigator for committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), arrived at her suburban Virginia home after work Wednesday about 6:30 p.m. As she was unloading belongings from her car, a 6-foot-1-inch white man dressed in black struck her repeatedly with an unidentified object believed to be a baseball bat.

The attack on DiSanto came two days before a bomb threat caused alarm at an Iowa veterans home where Grassley was scheduled to appear.

According to the Iowa Times Republican, an anonymous caller told a switchboard operator Friday that a bomb would detonate in the center’s cemetery shortly before 1 p.m. The threat was not in the area where Grassley was scheduled to appear and later was deemed a false alarm. Grassley made the visit to the center as planned.

Grassley is known for his aggressive oversight of the public and private sector. Over the past year, he has scrutinized healthcare fraud, organ-donation procedures used by hospitals, drug-safety matters and the use of nonprofit groups related to former lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

I'm in DC. I know the scene. The staffer works her ass off on the Hill all day and then takes home work because she cares and she lives in one of the hardest working metro area in the world. Then she's home, peace...and some thug, criminal, sadist assaults her.

I'm outraged.

Wonder which one of the winners he's looking into did the deed.

I have some hope for Grassley as a person and I hope this motivates him to rock hard and kick some ass. He's got it in him. We need a Sen. McClellan about now, just a fearless ass kicker with a bug up his nose.

Thanks, this is very revealing.

5. My impression of Grassley is that he's a "tough guy."
I don't know how this will go over with him..but it might make some Repugs start to wonder.

Our Dems have been threatened with Anthrax, Computer Files stolen by Repug Operatives and who knows what else. When "whoever it is" starts against Repugs...my God...we know things must be getting bad up there. :-(

10. Farm boy...in the positive sense. They don't dig their femail employees
getting beaten up by thugs. This could be huge, explosive.

I think he's got the potential to be a loose cannon in our cause.

Would be willing to bet that most rank and file Republicans, independent or third party don't like crooks running the federal government either

12. I agree. I also think that Grassley has his own power base
and can free lance if he wants. In this case, the emphasis would be on lance. Just remember what Perot did when his people were in danger in Iran. Doesn't matter who it is, safety is a value. IF this was an intimidation tactic, I hope he totally Kirks Out, goes midieval on them.

Will Grassley be intimidated? Will he be anthraxed next?

What financial connections are Abramoff hiding?

In other interesting news, Grassley is asking that all the oil companies, in light of their record profits, contribute 10 percent of their profits to help fund energy assistance for low-income people (LIHEAP). He's also asked the oil companies for status reports on all their charitable contributions.
