9. Who resigned from the church he grew up in
because of its position on women.

I think Carter is the only openly christian person (talking about the ones in the spotlight, not the average person nobody ever heard of) I can respect. We need more like him to counter the Dobsons and the Falwells, and the Robertsons.

15. Jim Wallis is great too!
I just got through God's Politics... and it was the most in depth writing on the differences between the Christian right/left that I've read in a long time.

17. I've heard good reviews of the book
I haven't gotten it yet. I've heard good reviews from both conservatives and liberals which is very telling in a good way. :)

22. It is a good book because it goes beyond the cliches to
talk about stuff that liberal and conservative people of faith MUST agree on: helping to end poverty and hunger. The Bible has very specific things about clothing and feeding people and nothing about abortion or hating gay people.

3. Jimmy is a real born again Christian and a Baptist
He decried the takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention by the fundamentalists.

This is a great interview!

8. Absolutely!!!
A class act is former-President Carter...he has stayed involved in great pursuits as a helper-of-humanity worldwide.
Next to Bill Clinton, Mr. Carter is the favorite US leader of my 43-year lifetime...such good words and good works!

6. Did you see the pic of him and his wife
walking down the street during his inauguration, waving? That's quite a picture compared to what we have been dealing with. Makes me very nostalgic.

7. Just showed film of him and Rosalyn walking the entire inauguration parade
route to the White House with cheering, happy crowds! I remember that day. Bush and Cheney could never do that since they have been so hated since day one.

I love Jimmy Carter. He is the BEST former president EVER! :) :patriot:

18. Carter said that Bush thinks he speaks for God and is thus unable
to admit he is wrong. Carter said this at the very beginning of the show.

The show will repeat later on tonight.

14. Carter's genuine humility. . .
is what makes him a real Christian IMHO. . .

and his wife Rosalynn is a favorite First Lady of mine. . .loved her autobiography,First Lady from Plains (1984).

They reminded me of the Trumans. . .plain-speaking from Plains, GA!

Wish we had their types again. . .straightforward not playing image-makers with "mirrors" and boldfaced lying.

I'm seeing their quality in Wesley Clark, Barbara Boxer, Harry Reid. . .I'm hoping any of these run in 2008.

21. Ouch. Carter is saying Alito will be confirmed. He is pro-life but not
anti-abortion. He is quite honest. He adresses the fact that many women have abortions because they can't support or afford a child. Good for him.

He created W.I.C. program and sex education programs to reduce unwanted pregnancies. He does not favor overturning of Roe v. Wade.

24. Carter's position on abortion is a sensible centrist position
and is the one that can be supported without jeopardizing abortion rights.

25. Larry King repeats at midnight ET
I highly recommend that those that missed part of the Jimmy Carter interview that you watch this from the beginning.

Compare the deep faith of a Jimy Carter with the shallowness of a Bush.

29. I think he is great
I am just so impressed by him. What he is doing with his book and these interviews is very important. I Don't know if anyone one else could do this ..boy I wish I was better with words. But he shows how you can be a xtian and a dem. Something the Bushbots want religious folks to think cant be.

He really is sharp and with it..if you don't count the one mix up between semen and embro..lol.

30. He stirred up a boat-load of hornets nests with that one!
Like my wife said, "that's what happens when you tell the truth." Lots of toes got stepped on, and lots of people trying to hide the ugly truth should be rightly squirming.

Way to go, Pres. Carter!

religion and actually believe what he says.
