I think the important thing is to win this next year,
As long as W's approval ratings are low, the congress (Rs) will shy away from him. They want to keep their jobs. That needs to be encouraged. Keeping things in the headlines that help him, like this SP nominee, only hurt us in the long run. If we cannot win the fight, or keep his approval low, I think we need to drop it - or at least maintain low profile.

If not for the SP moninee or the leak case what would be in the news -Iraq???

W wants this fight. It is a good reason to think twice about it.

I am tired of losing. He is weak now, and will be as long as people focus on him.

Maybe an impeachment is not possible now - but it sure could be with a dem congress in 2006. We need to focus on the bigger picture.

Here's a great resource for info.

2. I think that on Thursday.....
When Scooter Libby goes before the judge, the story (should) pick up steam again.

BUT.... how much you wanna bet we'll have some terror warning that day?

3. Agree...
Figure he'll get all the distraction value he can out of sc conf. hearings, bird flu, the Iranian wmd threat, maybe throw an Osama sighting in there, But I agree an elevated color on the threat rainbow is coming.

4. I think the story is just what a loser this guy is,
And every news item that does focus on him proves this out.

I want the story to be on him and his administration. If it is, we win in 2006. We really are a "tar and feather" nation, I think.

6. I do not disagree with you,
But I think we need to pick our fights. And I think we better not allow ourselves to get baited into situations that are not in our long term good.

7. There is only one fight
What you're advocating is capitulation. Fight this Court nominee. Force them to invoke the nuclear option. Either that or go down without a whimper. Grow some balls Dems. We can rally our base, and the middle on this one.

10. It is just a battle,
It is not the war.I would point out - those people want this battle. We need to question the wisom, thats all. They sure played us pretty well so far.

11. Two words...
PAPER. PEN.

There is no "democratic process" in America with right-wing controlled machines in place. It's not about who votes, its about who COUNTS the votes.

9. I agree. We need control of BOTH houses of congress next year.
It is realistic to get a majority in both.

Range of seats won by Democrats in 2006 (possible):

House: 212-253
Senate: 48-53
