Is this now the Kerry Underground?
I've only been here a short time but already I realize that one, DU takes way too much of my time and two, this is a DLC/Kerry camp bent on leading us down the Rosy path to Hillary's 2008 campaign.

That race I can and will believe in if we don't oust the usurpers this year. But since this one ain't quite over yet I'll be spending most of my time in more democratic pastures where smarter people than I really do want to get rid of the Bushies.

Here it really just seems like a bunch of guys around a chess board in Washington Square. Serious strategy and cheering for our side but win or lose its still just a game.

I also find myself going down the road of flame baiter which is bad enough as it is without doing it to some nice old dems that could be my mom.

Think I'll go back to being the lurker I was and maybe pop back in someday.

Toodles

the DU has been a tough place for us kerry supporters for some time now. Kerry needs some love from fellow Democrats.

5. I guarantee, if Kerry is the nominee and loses as I expect
2004 is absolutely the last election cycle I will watch as the Democrats blow another one.

I will guarantee, I walk out of the party forever to never look back and will do whatever it takes to see that the party dies the death it will richly deserve should this come about.

13. Me Too, From Another Thread: Yep, Looks Like Were Gonna Be Votin For...
someone who has the personality of a fence post, but hey, anything to get rid of shrub.

Well, almost anything.

Let me also say...

That after voting straight Dem ticket every time since 1974 (Jerry Brown Gov. CA), that if WE and KERRY (or whoever) don't win this time, I will be parting ways with the Democratic Party. After Bush installs a couple more Scalia\Thomas clone in the SOTUS, the only thing keeping me here in the former U.S. of A. will be my family.

Since it seems that the rightwing has successfully conned the nation into listing to the right, and Democratic opposition has followed suit, if I'm gonna hang around here, I'm goin Green, or whatever third party represents my views and desires for the kind of society I want for myself and my family.

Clinton running home to execute a mentally disabled 'criminal' is just one example of how low we'll stoop to get elected. Hopefully Kerry is above that. Hopefully the Democratic party is above that. If not...

Then the party has definitely left me... with the LEFT!!!

:grr:

So John Kerry... If it's to be you, you'd better not fuck it up!!!

I will support the Democratic nominee in '04 BUT if "My" party doesn't start standing up for me and the principles I hold dear...then I expect to bump into you while I run back to "the left" where I belong. God forbid that the Democrats front an "angry" candidate who will be in the boy king's face everyday until November.

And, that I may have to settle for ABB/Kerry is especially hard to accept. I'll be a good Democrat this year...but this is the last time. :grr:

edit: more truthfulness

29. Funny Thing Though...
I was for Kerry a couple of years ago, looking to who might be able to beat Shrub. And if he had done what Dean and DK have done in the past year as far as coming out against the war and the Patriot Act et.al., and proving that they were in touch with the anger within the Democratic base, he'd have already walked away with the Nom.

But he did the '2002 Two-Step'!

He did the politically prudent thing. Get all the post 9\11 issues behind you, 'off the table', to get the "Dem vote' in order for 2002. And it fell through the floor into the basement.

And that's my greatest fear now. It is two rolls of the dice. We try this once again and hope for a win, or we try something new and hope for a win.

The joy, or fallout, will be staggering for this political party.

16. Walt, we're winning in 2004
not losing. There's a groundswell of anger at Bush that pollsters say they've never seen before. You won't have to leave the party! :)

6. Kerry Underground? I wish!
If only Kerry was the favorite on this forum and not Clark, a duplicitous man who murdered Serbians.

Hillary won't be president in '08. Kerry will be president from '05 to '13. If Hillary wants to run in '12, then she can go ahead.

Kerry > Hillary anyway. If Kerry fails, there's no reason for Hillary to do better.

There are alot of threads about Kerry, but I still think the majority here are Dean and Clark supporters.

11. I am ABB
But I have read many posts supportive of Dean, Kucinich, Clark. I have read some posts supportive of Lieberman and Sharpton.

My take on Iowa and New Hampshire was that the volatility of these races gained the Democrats a platform for criticizing Bush that they could never have gained otherwise.

Dean supporters rule here. No doubt 'bout it.

Man, have I taken some hits. Don't think I am the beat all though. More desperate defenses from me of John than anything progressive. I like to hear the reasoned arguments.

Kinda sounds like sour grapes to this Kerry supporter. We were losing (in the polls, damn it) and I sure took a lot of the 'inevitability, give it up' rhetoric when I stuck my head up for John. I'm still constantly nervous about his nomination chances though. So, if you all please, enough with the vitriol. I'm as scared as you are that Bush will survive. We have a lot to learn from each other. I, for one, am hoping you stay and discuss.

22. How can it be the Kerry Underground when...
Will Pitt just accepted a position on the Kucinich campaign? It just got interesting around here NewHampster.

And it may be heresy for me to admit this (as a Dean supporter) but Kerry couldn't get the time of day around here for months and months.

And the Clark supporters have taken a beating around here, too! The Kucinich supporters were so frequently showered with gracious platitudes that it's no wonder they don't hang out here much.

And finally, didn't you know that Wednesdays are "Kerry Day" around here? "Dean Day" is Monday. ;)

Don't go away for long! :hi:
