Buried under all the Plame news, my local paper
reported in the BUSINESS section the latest Republican attack on the most vulnerable Americans. AP reports that by a straight part-line vote the House Ag committee approved budget cuts amounting to removing 300,000 people from food stamps and cutting 40,000 children from school lunches and breakfasts.

More 'compassionate conservatism' from the likes of John Boehner, (R-Ohio):"We're spending money we don't have"-- because they gave it to their rich cronies and Halliburton and Iraqi syncopants.

I'm searching for a word... uhh.... let's see... oh yeah: ASSHOLES!

8. Or as the fault
of the poor person. If you were just 'better', you wouldn't be poor--it's your own fault!

3. Yeah, they're "spending
money they don't have"..they're spending it to kill people in Iraq. But, they won't help poor kids out with lunch.

If they're so broke why did they give themselves a raise? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?

4. Yeah, just another story the MSM never picked up on ...

... surprise, SURPRISE! For the past four-plus years, we've heard every Repug talking about how the deficit doesn't matter, how the economy will be booming soon and the debts will be wiped, et cetera.

But the minute there was a discussion about financial aid to Katrina victims, suddenly the same Repugs got their fiscal conservatism back.

Another AMAZING COINCIDENCE!!!!

5. And the GOP calls themselves Christians?
Hurt the poor while helping out the most wealthy. The Republican party is the party of corruption and immorality.

9. That it is, Erika
The GOP stands for "Greedy Old Pigs". They are always falling over themselves to enrich their cronies, and corporate interests. As far as using tax money to help the most vulnerable members of society, they act like it's coming from their own bank accounts. Well, considering the level of support they have from corporations and the wealthy, it probably is.

This is one of the many reasons I get so furious when republicans dare to call themselves the moral ones, the "Jesus" party. They are so far removed from the message that Christ preached, that I wonder sometimes why they aren't struck with bolts of lightening for their hypocrisy.

6. Just another reason to scrap the plans for the $250M bridge to no-where.
Edited on Sat Oct-29-05 07:03 PM by LostInAnomie
I guess that would be unthinkable though. Letting the poor starve leaves their conscious clear.

11. They always attack the powerless.
It's their modus operandi. The powerless cannot fight back, they're too busy trying to get by. Anyway, hungry people, and people with hungry children, are more likely to work for less wages and under difficult conditions. That's the ultimate game plan here.
