My own little act of activism!
Earlier this week, I went into a donut shop, a very well known, national chain/coffee donut shop. I don't want to give the name, although I am sure you can figure out who it is, because they were actually very quick to respond and helpful.

I almost exclusively go through the drive thru, but that day the line was long and there was no one inside so I decided to go in and get my coffee.

I got to the counter and to my right there was a small box with pamphlets inside. The box said, "Fight for Your Freedom". The brochures inside showed students in caps and gowns. When you opened the pamphlet it told you about how you could earn a $10,000 enlistment bonus, go to school for free and eligibility for up to $60,000 in aid to attend school. It was an Army National Guard pamphlet. I was astounded. I looked at the back and stamped there was the name and phone number of the Sergeant who would be more than happy to recruit you.

Thinking to myself while driving into work, "Yeah, you'll get an education alright, if you don't get a coffin first".

I got into work and called the HQ and spoke with a woman who was very helpful and said she would escalate this immediately and that this is against corporate policy.

I went into the shop a day later and the pamphlets were removed.

Today I received a thank you letter from them with $5 dollars worth of gift certificates.

Just wanted everyone to know that sometimes a phone call can work.

1. People who want to fight for freedom,
should join the ACLU.

2. Wow!
Republicans getting indicted and arrested left and right, Miers left the system, the World Series finished in four games, and now a corporation responded within a day...

The End Times are coming! I feel it!

5. That was the whole thing. I was worried about some 17 or 18 yo
reading that garbage (lies) and calling that guy, and the recruiter not giving up until he met his quota.

7. Good for you - and the children who won't pick up those flyers.
Sometimes all it takes is a phone call but we have to stop and make the call.

Thanks for taking the time.
