During which debate did Kucinich say, "I'm a protectionist?"
I'm trying to find a transcript, but there have been so many debates.

During which debate did Kucinich say something like:

When I tell people I want to withdraw from NAFTA adn the WTO, they say,
"Oh, you're one of those protectionists."

Damn right I'm a protectionist.

1. Dennis is the only one who will protect jobs by withdrawing from NAFTA
and the WTO. Anyone try calling AOL support lately? I think all those jobs have been outsourced to India.

2. I never heard it during a debate
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 08:20 PM by La_Serpiente
but he said something like it on the MacNeil Lehrer News Hour on PBS.

This is not the exact quote, but this is how I remember it:

Question from person in restraunt: Rep. Kucinich, are you a protectionist?

Kucinich: I don't know, but I know I want to protect American jobs. If that is the definition for a protectionist, then so be it. I don't really care whether I am a protectionist or not. All I know is that I want to protect American jobs.

And the restraunt goes wild

4. Iowa I believe. He said it over and over, very pointedly.
I was quite proud of him.

"I'm a protectionist..."
