Woodward is just brutal
Anyone catch his BushCo apologist act on Larry King, as part of the panel this past hour? It included Gergen, Dodd, Isikoff and Lindsay Graham. My oh my, how times have changed. Here's Bob Woodward, on the eve of what may be a crippling blow for an already struggling Bush administration, talking about how those possibly about to be indicted are "human beings", and we should remember that, etc. Since when is Rove human? Seriously though, what a fucking sell-out. Woodward has his head so far up Chimpy's ass, what with all his Bush books and such, interviewing him in the White House and so forth, it makes me wanna retch. Hard to believe Bob Woodward ever had the gonads he once did during Watergate.

5. Well, FUCK, who's indicted that *isn't* human, Bob?

Jeezus. Innate humanness isn't enough to exempt someone from indictment, last time I checked.

7. I don't understand it.
I'm reading Woodward's book about Mark Felt, "The Secret Man: The Story of Deep Throat", and he was an amazing journalist then. What brought on this fit of ass-kissing?

12. if you could get woodward alone
and question him forcefully (answers required) using tried/true bush co methods, then you would learn alot about amereican/world history; alot of true stuff that would....it would so horrify you that you'd suspect woodward was lying. woodward certainly is a liar (he probably has one of those implants that can be activated easily, in case he needs to suicide himself, but it would be fun teasing him about what's waiting the old killer/traitor on the 'other side' lol)
it was men like woodward who set bush up, and kept him going; nixon was a honest political gangster compared to the bushes

13. You read my mind...

...I sat there watching Woodward and it made my heart sink.

It was really painful to watch.

I mean, this was "Woodstein"! This was the guy who was relentless in his pursuit of the truth. He dug deep to reveal the corruption of the Nixon White House.

Now, he sits on Larry King Live--practically indignant--that anyone would talk badly about BushCo. He argued with Chris Dodd whenever Dodd made a good point about how awful outing Plame was. Woodward was right there, issuing the WH talking points. He actually said, "Well, by the time they were saying negative things about Wilson--we were all ready at war, so this really is not about the run up to the war."

Excuse me? Dodd AND Gergen both emphasized that this WAS about the run up to the war--because Wilson tore apart the arguments that BushCo made during the run-up to the war, and Wilson's findings seriously damaged their credibility.

I mean...holey crikey--David Gergen seemed like he was astounded at Woodwards' non-stop sucking up to BushCo rhetoric.

It really was something else.

I don't think there's any major conspiracy here with Woodward. He's a member of the elite now. Junior let him into the White House and allowed him to write a book. Woodward is now part of the uber-upper crust and he appears to have forgotten the principals that made everyone admire and love him.

Now, he's just one of the rats. It's truly sickening.

14. Woodward is no different from Tweety.
One principled men, who sold their souls to the neo-cons in exchange for power, access, and money.

If you listen to them closely, you can tell that they are very blase about the lies they spew. They don't truly believe this crap they espouse. Sometimes they'll chuckle or laugh while throwing out the latest WH talking points. It's like they know what they are saying is ridiculously unbelievable. They don't care though. They're paid not to.

It's like Kerry defending his vote on Iraq. It rang hollow. Eventually he had to come clean. It's one thing to believe in something and vote or defend that position accordingly (even if it's a wrong position). But I think it's lower than low to vote for or defend positions that you know are wrong in exchange for $$$. People who do that are whores in every sense of the world. People like Tweety and Woodward.

15. For those who "don't understand"...I feel that, but:
Sometimes, and I know that this is a bitter pill to swallow for many--with Woodward, you've got to consider reading between the lines. I was LIVID about his approach to discussing the Bush Admin's march to war in his last two books, until I reread them and saw that in every conceivable way possible, they're actually an attack on the Admin. The harshest attack that has yet been leveled at it, some say, even claiming Woodward is trying to communicate a tounge in cheek acknowledgment of MIHOP activities WRT 9/11. And as DUers of a certain age may know, there have always been questions about Woodward's true loyalties and intentions, including not so crazy rumors that he was once, and may still be, a contract agent of the CIA. Laugh if you want, but Google these issues before you flame me.

16. I was disgusted by his RNC talking points
Woodward hit several of the RNC talking points, right on cue.
Issikof looked pained a couple of times during that.

I whipped off an "error" report to CNN, for what good that will do.

Woodward has been downhill now that he is embedded.

Do his old Naval Intelligence background explain any of this?
