Her and her idea that she has to be militarily tough in order to get elected. I'm convinced her Presidential ambitions are the entire reason the Democratic Party doesn't have a clear message on Iraq. It still wouldn't satisfy the few who truly mean immediate withdrawal, but everybody else from Boxer to Feingold to Kerry are calling for a very different strategy and would never say we went to war "to establish democracy". He is towing Hillary's line now.

That was the common thread from people who worked with him in the Kerry campaign. He certainly needs to get a clue and step aside as a frontman for the Democratic party. And if Kerry runs again on 2008, he needs to jettison Shrum...they tried getting rid of him at one point in the campaign but he popped up again...

I don't remember what he said (which might be a problem in and of itself), but I remember thinking that Shrum wasn't doing so bad this time.

Anyway, Hardball doesn't call up Howard Dean and ask who they should have on as a spokesperson. They have Shrum's phone number and they call him directly.

on that. The rest of it was what you say "I don't remember what he said." Yet, there are DU'ers posting what Rogers the Repug Op said about "No Indictments."

I heard what Shrum said because I've stood out on street corners with signs protesting Iraq Invasion, and worked for Kerry out on the streets because I got involved with Dem party and ran for Precinct Chair. So, Shrum OWES all of us who worked for Gore and Worked for Kerry...when he wasn't even our candidate. And the activists I worked with were ALL AGAINST the Iraq Invasion. He's leaving us out and it's insulting.

and I say this as someone who also protested the invasion, if only people who were against it could be Democratic spokespersons, the list of potential talking heads would be terribly short. (Hell, not even our last nominees for Prez and VPs could be interviewed).

But the fact remains, neither the DNC or Howard Dean decide who speaks for the party on television shows. The producers do. And, Bob Shrum, loser or not, has a resume that gets him called.
