Senate voting on minimum wage increase right now

Kennedy ammendment would raise the minimum wage by 1.10 from 5.50 over two years. Looks like a straight party line vote.

I've tried counting the ayes and nays in the past, but lose track before it gets to all 100!

Of course, the Senators would probably bitch about that!!!!

So far has voted for it, Chafee. 'Moderates' Collins, Snowe, McCain all voted no.

5. well, if he wants the women to stay home, then the men

need something to actually bring home. Like 1.10 would do much anyway. Gees.. is it even worth it? It should be at 11.00 (from increments beginning way back yesterday, and the days before that).

7. There is a horrible amendment attached to this bill

that would eliminate overtime pay, allow businesses to overthrow any federal laws that hold them responsible for pollution, harassment and other protections, all States would have this and cannot be overridden by the State.

9. All Democrats voted for Kennedy's amendment.

It would have required a 3/5 vote to pass, but put the corporate toadies no votes on display and let folks know who they Republicans stand with--and it's not them.

fifteen to twenty bucks it costs to fill a gas tank so the poor can get to their minimum wage jobs.
