Edited on Wed Oct-19-05 12:12 PM by kentuck
The CIA felt that there was reason to investigate after the Plame leak and requested the Republican Attorney General, John Ashcroft, to appoint a prosecutor to investigate the case. He, or his appointee, chose Patrick Fitzgerald.

It was not the Democrats or the liberals, contrary to all the foolish bellowing of the rightwingers. This is their puppy. They cannot blame it on the Democrats or the media. They chose their own poison. Don't let them forget it.

(edited because not sure if Ashcroft recused himself on this case?)

3. You may be right?
Maybe it was someone besides Ashcroft that made the decision? Can someone correct me on this ? :) I don't know if the CIA coud make the decision - perhaps the Asst Atty General or someone like that??

4. I know Ashcroft recused himself after stalling for a long time.
The CIA pushed for action, and I think a deputy or someone at Justice chose Fitzgerald. It wasn't one of Bush's inner circle/cabinet, that's for sure.

5. Why do you care what they (freepers) think????
Why argue with them? They "think" whatever suits their purposes at the moment. If it suited their purposes for the sky to be green...they'd "think" the sky is green....and repeat it endlessly.

So what...who cares...it's a waste of time and energy to give them the slightest attention.
