| Bush is right: Harriet Mies will make a great Supreme Court Prejudger |
|
She will definitely vote lap dog party line, no question about it. What the legal conservatives are really worried about is that she she won't be able to bullshit in legal terms as well as they can. This strict constructionism nonsense is pure sophistry, about as morally relevant to the real world as the plantation owners rationals for slavery. But the secret to these guys is that they all lie so well, so academically, that most people, in fact most lawyers, I would venture, have no idea what they are talking about. And then along comes some character, whose inability to frame legal arguments with any degree of sophistication will expose the bogusness at the heart of their positions. This is what the right is objecting to. Not that she won't vote their positions, but the chance that in defending them without sufficient sophistication, she will expose the basic prejudices at work here which will then undermine, the "intellectual authority" which the conservatives judges employ to perfume their moral, kissing the ass of power, corruptness.
