Lauer, Russert on suicide watch after reading latest NBC/WSJ poll
No link yet

Poor wittle Lauer introduced the "Close Up" segment this morning as such:

"The latest NBC Wall Street Journal poll is out and ....(serious pause) it is not good news for the President. Here to talk about this is Tim Russert...."

Split screen with Russert who was on a set so dark it made the West Wing look like Rainbow Bright set.

Russert and Lauer went through the numbers
39% approval
28% right direction 58% WRONG direction
2% of black Americans have a positive opinion of W (wow one little catch phrase goes a long way huh?)

39% want Congress run by the Republicans
48% want Congress run by Democrats

-Want to guess what Russert made sure to mention?-

"Democrats don't have a plan though."

Okay and now the big finish

Lauer:"Okay the Plame case and Karl Rove .... does anyone but the press care about this???"

Russert didn't say yes or no he just said that no one knows what will happen-indictments? exoneration?-if an indictment came down it would have shockwaves around Washington.

6. Give widdle Lauer some props, he was quite sarcastic w/Bush as he
interviewed him as he was "building houses", remarking "so if others follow your lead and build houses, would you call this MISSION ACCOMPLISHED?"

15. Yes he did
I didn't catch the whole thing but I did heard that. Lauer also talked about nothing but the politics of the whole thing and W looked extra PO'ed that someone would bring up politics in the middle of a political photo op.

22. Lauer needs to be snarky about some irrelevant bullshit
in order to maintain his liberal media cred.

7. I asked a friend
of mine who badgered me constantly about Clinton how she was liking the poll numbers. She lit into me with something else so I said, "How about those indictments? Delay etc." She turned around and walked away. Funny how they are so touchy isn't it? I wish I had been able to enjoy it more though, I like this woman.

12. Band Waggoneers
It's easy to root for the "winners" when they are "winning" but the sunshine patriots tend to fade in the winter.

9. 2 % of black Americans with a positive opinion?
Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 08:59 AM by marmar
That's almost a statistical impossibility. You could pretty much say that NO black Americans have a positive opinion of shrub.

23. Yep, since most polls have a margin of error at +/-3%.
Maybe they tossed in calls to Condi & Thomas when they chose the #'s to poll.

20. No shit...
my first response was "aren't they paying attention?" But then I remembered, the press is ignoring it and the only place we hear about it is the internets. I think they know, but aint letting on. Treat it like a nonstory so it will go away.

25. You're my favorite DU name
I know. I used to do the same thing.

But, I gotta tell you - after the 2004 election, I quit watching all TV news, network and cable.

You would not believe how much better my head and heart feel.

My cousin now watches on the Weather Channel, Comedy Central, and old movies. His blood pressure has gone down so much, he no longer needs medication. True story.

Anyway, underpants, thanks for the best DU name ever.

26. I cut off RW radio a few weeks ago
I used to listen to it both for the surreal entertainment value and for the "watching the enemy" aspect of it. I have found that it offers nothing in terms of insight and in fact did soften even my response to RW BS.

The Today is still a regular at our house but with the baby we are leaving/getting ready starting at 7 AM now.

Thanks.
