4. What I want to hear -
"No more $ for Iraq until we get a better accounting system in place."

I don't care who says it, D or R.
I want an explanation as to where my money, my kids money, my future grandchildren's $ is going!

5. Sen. Byrd just asked for
accountability ~ not sure if he was referring to the $50 billion dollar request, but he did say that the WH must give an accounting of the money that has been appropriated to Iraq and Afghanistan.

11. Thanks Welsh. I did not think one can post things critical of Dems here
My post, about protest at a Congressperson's office about their continual refusal to do anything about stopping the war was disallowed here on DU. You are a brave person.

On a very different note, just what does n/t mean?

i didn't see your post Tom so i have no idea why it was disallowed ...

within certain tolerances, we are allowed to be critical of Democrats and the Democratic Party ... your post probably stepped across the line ... the DU rules require support of Democrats but they also provide room for progressives of other stripes ... i would strongly suggest you read the detailed rules about post content ... it would help you understand the DU community ...

it's just my opinion but posts that criticize Democrats or the Party that are "issues based" will probably do better than saying something like: "Lieberman sucks ... he's worse than any republican" ... if you say that "Lieberman sucks because he never met a war he didn't like", you'll likely do better ...

if you have questions about why your post was deleted or locked, you should send an email to the admins ...

15. I have read the rules,
& it was issue based. I try to follow that rule for Repubs and Democrats. I have no personal hatred for even Bush (not to say i like him).

I did send an email to the admins. Twice. No response. I would have very much liked to hear some specific feedback and a discussion about what was wrong.

Your post here is obviously not very specific. Maybe that helped.

I do understand that there are people who believe that the cause of peace and justice can be served by replacing Republicans with Democrats, using the Democratic Party as a tool to build a just society. I am skeptical of that approach, I do not think it will really address the real problems (or that they will offer solutions the world can live with), but i understand it, and can trust the sincerity of the people who believe that. I also know that I don't have all the answers either.

I do think there should be more debate about the actions, or non-actions, of Democratic leaders. Is it my fault that although Bush's ratings are in the toilet, Democrats have barely gained any backing? It is not that the Democrats are losing people who are going to the Green Party, people are just giving up. For the overwhelming majority of these people, their rejection of the Democratic Party was not from listening to Nader or Bob Avakian or going to my website. They just listened to the message of Kerry or whoever and thought it was not worth their time. Bush & Kerry & Hilary want to send my kid to fight a war, why should i even care what happens to them? Could this be the real problem?

How come a majority of people now want the troops out now, and the Democratic Party does nothing. A golden opportunity and it is being lost. It is not my fault.

I can't think of anything more self-destructive than barring criticism. I hope that those banning of criticisms of Democratic mis-leadership on the war were isolated instances.

17. I wouldn't worry about it..
.... too much. The moderators are human and there is a lot of room for interpretation in the rules.

Folks who have a low post count are generally afforded less leeway.

If it is something you really wanted to say, post it again and try to be careful about how you say it. I've never had a post deleted over that sort of thing, only for calling a twit a twit :)

And yes you can make pointed comments about the Democrats....especially when they need them. The goal asI understand it is not to subvert the Democrats, but envigorate them. That goal will fail if we can't be honest about our frustrations.

16. The rank and file are walking on eggshells...

...about why THEIR party leadership is being so quiet about the Iraq boondoggle. They're also wondering why the leadership won't organize and do SOMETHING about the most CORRUPT WH in American history.

This has nothing to do with towing the party line or loyalty oaths. It has come down to the stark difference between right and wrong and which side we choose to be on.

Until that $$$$ is accounted for no Dem should vote on this new request.
