UK scientist slams U.S. climate 'loonies'
Friday, September 23, 2005 Posted: 1333 GMT (2133 HKT)

"LONDON, England (Reuters) -- A leading British scientist said on Friday the growing ferocity of hurricanes hitting the United States was very probably caused by global warming and criticized what he termed U.S. "climate loonies" over the issue.

Sir John Lawton, chairman of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution which advises the government, made what the Independent newspaper said was a thinly disguised attack on the stance of U.S. President George W. Bush's administration.

"The increased intensity of these kinds of extreme storms is very likely to be due to global warming," Lawton told the newspaper in an interview.

"If this makes the climate loonies in the States realize we've got a problem, some good will come out of a truly awful situation," said Lawton.

Less than a month after Hurricane Katrina devastated large areas of the U.S. Gulf coast, a new hurricane called Rita was roaring through the Gulf of Mexico towards the center of the U.S. oil industry..."

2. Now they're saying...
It's all part of a "natural cycle" and global warming has "very little" to do with it. When a political party can buy as many scientists as they want to lie for them, the people remain ignorant.

3. But according to Al Franken and others there is no
peer reviewed scientific article that does not indicate global warming is happening.

I also heard some real scientist say how they had looked at changes in ocean temperatures around the Earth, to see if it was only local cycles.

But the increases in temperature occurred all around the planet.

But of course, why would we NOT have several of the worst storms ever in the same year?

:sarcasm:

Last year was bad for Florida, this year is horrendous for the Gulf States.
