New AP-Ipsos Poll: Bush Disapproval NEARLY 6 IN 10 (Post Speech)
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 01:52 PM by Beetwasher
Interesting that they don't give the actual numbers though for approval and disapproval. The only thing they say is:

Katrina Raises Voters' Doubts About Bush

"An AP-Ipsos poll says nearly six in 10 people disapprove of Bush's job performance, unchanged from the record-low rating he had before last week's televised address from the heart of New Orleans.

That underscores why GOP leaders fear Bush could be a drag on GOP candidates in 2006."

--snip--

"Given a choice in the survey, 42 percent favored cutting spending on Iraq to pay for relief efforts on the Gulf Coast, and 29 percent wanted to delay or cancel Republican tax cuts. That's a whopping 71 percent backing options that Bush doesn't even have on the table."

--snip--

"A variety of polls suggest voters expected the president to act more quickly in the aftermath of Katrina. He's no longer considered a strong, decisive leader by many voters, a reversal from the 2004 presidential campaign when the wartime incumbent successfully cast himself in those terms."

1. "GOP leaders fear Bush could be a drag on GOP candidates in 2006"
That's why they are going to flush him by August 2006. They will be desperately trying to save their seats. They will be too late, but better late than never.

5. Oh, it is to laugh
"That underscores why GOP leaders fear Bush could be a drag on GOP candidates in 2006."

This should be very interesting. The vaunted party discipline of the Republicans splintering apart like a cheap dining room chair. I can't wait to see incumbent Republicans who have been so far up Bush's ass for the last five years suddenly disavowing him and his policies.
"What? Me? No, I wasn't in favor of that. You must have me confused with some other ass kissing Republican".

9. The irony of AWOL's post speech numbers is.....
they're lower because the Repugs don't like his giving "them people" all that money. He gained zero support from dems and independents and lost about 2 points from repugs because the wingnuts think AWOL's turning soft by helping out them..... you know..... folks.

2. They don't want to say the actual numbers - they are really bad
and after that wonderful speech and everything. How soon before the talking heads start berating the american public for disliking this saintly man, a man who has had them over to lunch and a nice lunch at that - time and time again.

Also they don't wish to startle their corporate masters who haven't quite figured out how to get off of a sinking ship without looking like they are getting off a sinking ship/

4. Not Statisically Significant
Essentially the same. Though 39% sounds better!

6. No, it sure isn't. Like you, I like the sound of 39 better than 40.
Of course, I'll like the sound of 29 even better!

8. If people don't like Bush's policies they need to replace the Repuke
congress with a congress that won't rubber stamp his agenda. They need to vote Democratic or they will get more of the same. That should be one of our main messages now.

10. Yup!
Though Bush will be gone before the election, the Congress must also be replaced or we get nowhere.
