If you look at what Bush is writing, his handwriting is vastly different than the first half of the note. Bush's handwriting is pretty damn messy actually.

1. Then why does he appear to be writing, "Is this possible..." after it?
Bush's handwriting is chaotic, because his mind is chaotic.

20. Exactly, he is writing AFTER.
My guess is that she said she needed a bathroom break, and he's asking if that is possible? (How would he know?)

18. Yes, no reason we should lampoon and ridicule them....
...since they never miss an opportunity to do it to us tree-huggin', welfare lovin', pansy-ass libruls everyday, 24/7. Yep, let's just play nice. That seems to be working sooo well...:eyes:

6. Snopes has it listed as undetermined for that reason
They say the photo is accurate and real, but there is no verification that the note was Bush's, and not something someone passed to him.

7. That's apparently the white house spin.
No WAY would the Secretary of State -- particularly a woman -- bother the pres about going to the bathroom. Um, no fricking way.

And it's male-looking handwriting -- he's just going from print to cursive like a lot of people do. In fact, the handwriting looks freakily like my dad's (a freeper, incidentally).

15. Several points
First, Condi considers Bush her husband, and probably lover, so she'd ask him whatever she wanted, including mundane, household things like bathroom breaks. Can you imagine anyone who works with the idiot thinking of him as president?

Second, why wouldn't she have "masculine" handwriting? She's more masculine than Bush.

Third--man, sorry about the dad. Mine used to be pretty conservative, too. Years of my preaching has converted him. Good luck on yours. :-)

28. Besides, there was further footage of him getting up and leaving while
she slid quickly and almost seamlessly into his seat. Like one of those nicely-dressed seat holders at the Oscars, whose job it is to slide into the empty seats when the big names vacate to go to the loo or take a smoke break. That, by the way, was something curiously NOT in evidence at the most recent Oscarcast.

CNN showed Bush getting up and leaving his seat to go to the bathroom while Condie got up and moved into his chair during his absence.

Bush got up and walked up the aisle, while Condi took over his seat.

23. It's Bush's
I saw the same thing on CNN....although didn't Rueter's say that they "Photoshopped" the picture to "enhance" the note so people could read the words better? I thought maybe I read that somewhere. That was the explanation for why the penciled words were so bold. ARGH! It makes people look for things to be wrong with it.

24. NO- Reuters dispels that here (link)
http://www.pdnonline.com/pdn/newswire/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001137642

and it was only PhotoShop enhanced- not manipulated.

Once he saw what it said, Hershorn decided the note was interesting and worth publishing. The white parts of the picture were overexposed, so a Reuters processor used Photoshop to burn down the note. This is a standard practice for news photos, Hershorn says, and the picture was not manipulated in any other way.

Around 4:30 p.m., Reuters transmitted two versions of the photo, including one that was tightly cropped around the note and Bush's hand.

The caption says that Bush was writing the note to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice; Hershorn says Wilking saw Bush write the note and hand the note to Rice.

29. Wouldn't doing that
make the black letters stand out more from the white? I'm pretty sure that's kind of what I said..."enhanced". I didn't imply at all that the photo was manipulated---if anyone took it that way, then I apologize. It seems to me that they simply wanted the letters to stand out more so that we could read them.

30. CNN...showed the actual photographer.
And his skilled handy work. He took the picture, then Bush got up and left. Reuter's probably just got a firm talking to from the Rove attack dogs.

I wonder if Blitzer will do another story on Bush's shirt being buttoned wrong. Maybe now that they know for a fact that Bush doesn't watch the news, they'll be bolder.

31. Buttoned wrong?
Hee hee! I didn't know that! Just got back from running errands--I missed the discussion on that one.

I just know that when I saw the story about the bathroom break I thought "I know this isn't important in the Big Scheme of Important Things, but Oh, brother, it's hilarious!"

Buttons in the wrong place is even funnier!
