What do you expect in *s speech tonight, I think we are going to
hear more of the same.

I've read that republicans are clamoring to use NO as a great experiment for school vouchers, and for other conservative pet projects.

4. You can count on some things Repigs will do with the NO disaster...
...they will find every opportunity to profit ($) from it at the expense of the victims (see Halliburton, Bechtel contracts) and at the expense of the rest of the country and to try to gain political power from it (see bu$hit's post-Katrina power-grab) and to push their assinine and damaging programs and policies through (see bu$hit's speech tonight).

Count on it.

5. Frankly, I'm appalled that this Administration
is USING the plight of the Gulf Coast and hurricane victims for yet ANOTHER P.R. appearance, this time on national television. If there is one thing that insults the intelligence of the American people, it is the utter overkill of this President's sudden interest in this catastrophe, an interest that needed to be expressed when children were dying of dehydration and elderly people were dying of exposure at the Convention Center and on rooftops two weeks ago.

For the life of me, I cannot imagine what this man has to say to the public now except beg the American people to like him again. Like millions of Americans, I would just love to scream from my own rooftop: "JUST GET TO WORK!" . .because this is not a situation that requires a President to behave like some touring British monarch.

6. So they are going to use a complete failure to...
...sell their pet projects?

I don't know what angers me more: 1)that they think the American people are that dumb or 2) that the American people ARE that dumb!

. . . re-building (filling his and friends greedy pockets)

. . . Iraq (filling his and friends greedy pockets)

. . . staying the course (filling his and friends greedy pockets)

blah blah blah . . .

I'm going to make a point to miss the speech, but my curiosity always gets the best of me, and I know I'll be reading transcripts. Damn!

8. Two days ago, many were betting here on resignation. What happened?
The second line was leaning toward announcement of steps toward war with Iran and/or Syria. Haven't seen a peep about either since.

Well, what's changed during the last 48 hours?

14. What about another nice big patriotic distraction in the Mid-East?
That got Shrub some high favorables for a few months.

He's been pressing the Iran nukes case hard behind the scenes at the UN. Do you think his chilly reception before the UN General Assembly, yesterday, put a halt to plans for a preemptive military strike:

U.S. Deploys Slide Show to Press Case Against Iran:

UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 13 -- With an hour-long slide show that blends satellite imagery with disquieting assumptions about Iran's nuclear energy program, Bush administration officials have been trying to convince allies that Tehran is on a fast track toward nuclear weapons.

The PowerPoint briefing, titled "A History of Concealment and Deception," has been presented to diplomats from more than a dozen countries. Several diplomats said the presentation, intended to win allies for increasing pressure on the Iranian government, dismisses ambiguities in the evidence about Iran's intentions and omits alternative explanations under debate among intelligence analysts.

The presenters argue that the evidence leads solidly to a conclusion that Iran's nuclear program is aimed at producing weapons, according to diplomats who have attended the briefings and U.S. officials who helped to assemble the slide show. But even U.S. intelligence estimates acknowledge that other possibilities are plausible, though unverified. The problem, acknowledged one U.S. official, is that the evidence is not definitive. Briefers "say you can't draw any other conclusion, and of course you can draw other conclusions," said the official, who would discuss the closed-door sessions only on condition of anonymity.

The briefings were conducted in Vienna over the past month in advance of a gathering of world leaders this week at the United Nations. President Bush, who is to address the annual General Assembly gathering Wednesday, and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, plan to use the meeting to press for agreement to threaten international sanctions against Iran.

The president's direct involvement marks an escalation of a two-year effort to bring Iran before the U.N. Security Council, which has the power to impose sanctions, unless Tehran gives up technology capable of enriching uranium for a bomb. U.S. officials have acknowledged that it has been an uphill campaign, with opposition from key allies who fear a prelude to a military campaign.
Several diplomats said the slide show reminded them of the flawed presentation on Iraq's weapons programs made by then-secretary of state Colin L. Powell to the U.N. Security Council in February 2003.

the Gov't is since he ripped off the presidency, and how wonderful it is to live in the "Land of the Free"...he might even toss in a mention of a tax cut or ask us all to go shopping....:eyes:

I can't stomach looking at the bastard, so I will force myself to read a transcriptof something. It will all come down to fear and terror though...the only things he knows about....and he applies both with equal vigor...:grr:

22. Now that the Rep. spin machine and the media saved his butt....
He no longer has to apologize about Katrina. The governor of Louisiana got on TV this morning and accepted blame for all of it. The mayor of NO got a good talking-to and chaged his mind, too. Damage Control has done its job. Now he has the go-ahead to talk about rebuilding NO as a great American city with no poor people in it, a fundie church on every corner and a WalMart on every block. Republicans never stop trying to make lemonade out of their lemons, and they manage to do it almost every time.
