Repug friend said no foreign countries have aided US with H. Katrina. BZZT
Russia, Canada, Japan and France have contributed money and are sending aid for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

So far...

23. Or Venezuela
It was awfully generous of Chavez to offer cheaper fuel and aid almost immediately after the hurricane struck.

His response was certainly quicker than Bush. Ony yeterday did I hear them them say they are "working" on an aid package. I like how the media is saying he cut his vacation "short" when it was about to end anyways. Instead his leadership consists of eating cake with McCain (another ass hole) and playing a fuckin guitar. Disgusting.

6. Oddly enough we've also been asked for drugs
"In Edmonton, Canada's Public Security Minister said Canada will do whatever it can for the U.S.

Anne McLellan said that could involve a wide variety of things, including sending military engineers.

But McLellan said medical drugs may be among the first items Canada is called upon to ship south.

She said an American government agency asked Ottawa to do an inventory of medication that could help stop the spread of infection. McLellan said the inventory has been done and the U.S. government has been informed of Canada's ability to ship the drugs."

15. A link and stories from many countries supporting aid
http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,1280,-5245983,00.html

I loved this:

"Throughout Europe, concerned citizens were keeping a close eye on events as they lamented the loss of life and the damage caused to New Orleans, often described as one of the North America's most ``European'' cities.

French President Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder sent messages of sympathy to U.S. President George W. Bush. Chirac, who has famously quarreled with Bush over the Iraq war, addressed his letter, ``Dear George.''

18. If we have $300 billion to destroy Iraq we should be able to
afford to rebuild our own mess. We have bombed in excess of 40 countries since WWII that isn't considered foreign aid is it?

22. Europe recovering from their own floods
Europe picks up pieces as flood waters recede

GENEVA (Jang Group) -- Flood waters were receding in Europe on Saturday, following a weeklong crisis which left at least 70 people dead across the centre and east of the continent. Meanwhile, across the continent in parched Portugal, fire-fighters brought seven blazes under control overnight that had flared up again during one of the country’s most destructive fire seasons in a decade.
In Romania, hardest hit from the floods with a death toll of 33, authorities said the torrential rain which fuelled the flooding should tail off by the end of the weekend, with fine weather expected to return by Monday.

Water levels were also dropping in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Bulgaria and Poland. In Romania’s central Harghita region, authorities on Saturday continued the search for two people who were still missing, but the chances of finding them were said to be slim. Health officials there on Friday said there was a risk of disease, with sewers wrecked by flooding and hundreds of animal carcasses strewn across the waterlogged streets of the region’s villages.

I don't recall Bush calling for Americans to help Europe last week.
