Coburn to continue practicing medicine("considering joining the military")
Fine..send his ass off to Iraq. Bet he starts up his own "charitable organization" instead.

http://www.kfor.com/Global/story.asp?S=3738635

Senator Tom Coburn says he'll continue practicing medicine whether the Senate agrees to allow him to do so or not.

Coburn is a doctor and specializes in high-risk pregnancies, but the Senate Ethics Committee has told him to wind down his clinic by September 30th.

Coburn is asking the Senate to allow him to continue and a vote is expected next month.

But Coburn says he'll either continue by paying for it himself or to make other senators censure him. He says he's also considering joining the military or working through a charitable organization to continue his medical practice.

1. Coburn must have not been looking at...
... his latest approval ratings, which are almost at the bottom of all senators (he's a place or two above Santorum, who's dead last). This latest is probably going to put him at the bottom.

The guy ran for the Senate knowing what the existing rules were, and yet, he wants to be excepted from them--and intended from the start to ignore those rules. His constituents ought to be upset at his determination to take a full-time salary for part-time work.

3. This is guy who said lesbianism was so rampant in SE OK that the
high school only let one girl in bathroom at a time. (The school super there he had no idea what Coburn was talking about.) Coburn also said abortion should be a capital crime. He still won easily. I don't think the Okies will mind too much when he goes on this little rant.

4. He may have won easily...
... but this suggests he's not living up to expectations:

Note his position....

Cheers.

6. He won easily minaly because
of W. coattails, but also despite his batshit crazy beliefs his opponent's campaign strategy seemed to be: Were similar except I'm nicer and more sane.

5. OK state repuke: $1242/month car lease (taxpayers foot bill)
If the locals put up with THIS crap, they must be willing to let anyone represent them.
A cheap compact car would get them from point A to point B just as easily...They also get reimbursed 40.5 cents/mile for gas for their personal cars.

http://www.kotv.com/main/home/stories.asp?whichpage=1&id=88809

Two members of Oklahoma's congressional delegation are taking advantage of House rules that allow them to lease or rent vehicles for official business in the state.

Republican Representative John Sullivan is leasing a sport utility vehicle in his district for 12-hundred-42 dollars a month at taxpayer expense.

Republican Representative Frank Lucas rented a car in Oklahoma City in December and paid more than 15-hundred dollars for it out of his congressional office account.

House rules permit members to lease or rent vehicles or submit reimbursement claims for mileage on personal cars. Congressional staff members also can rent cars while on officials business or get reimbursed for mileage on personal cars.

8. Just one question....
How does a U.S. Senator (most of whom seem to have to spend endless hours working) have the time to be a practicing obstetrician?

Okay, two questions! Is his practice in D.C.?
