I'm pretending I'm Karen Hughes.
Only cuter, of course.

Karl's busy, and even though I'm now some kind of important diplomat in charge of our image abroad, I'm best when I'm busy making W look good.

I can't very well send the President out there to speak to Cindy. A confrontation could and probably would occur, W might be called a murderer or liar by Cindy, or the crowd surrounding her. A media circus.

Here's what I'd do. I'd have done it about seven days ago, but better late than never.

Send a WH town car with Laura Bush out to Cindy's camp. Give them due warning, of course, making sure they'll accept before you arrive. Invite the media for a photo-op, due warning of course. Laura invites Cindy to the White House to meet privately with the President and herself, for a period of one half-hour.

Cindy accepts and drives to the ranch with the First Lady.

A half-hour later, she emerges, and gives the press her account of their conversation. The White House issues still photographs from the session inside the ranch.

Cindy has fulfilled her goal of meeting with the President, while shining light on the issue of Iraq. The President appears compassionate, while using his best asset, the First Lady. The fight continues, and the controversy rages on, but Cindy and her camp can pack up and go home, the President can enjoy his vacation, and the media can go back to that girl in Aruba.

I'm Karen Hughes. Why won't they listen to me?

1. Because the president is a wimp who can't handle confrontation
let's face it--in any sane political environment the meeting would have been over and done with

2. It's just, you know, this has Laura Bush written all over it.
And I think they're blowing it.

Big time, as Dick would say.

5. You know, Laura is not good at handling confrontation either
remember when she cancelled her special poetry discussion dinner at the White House, when she learned some of the poetry would be "political in nature"?

Aren't they just two peas in a pod? :puke:

7. I think you give Laura
too much credit. If there is no script and no Zantac, she is not that good at speaking.

8. Oh, there's no speaking involved, of course.
It's all scripted. WH confirms that Cindy will accept Mrs. Bush's invitation. Photo Op: Mrs. Bush steps out of the limo, shakes Cindy's hand, gives her a hug, looks somber, refuses questions, steps into limo to escort Cindy on her meeting with the President.

Mrs. Bush should escort Cindy back, as well, stand behind her as she recounts the private meeting with the President. She will refuse questions.

It's a simple role. Evita Peron could have done it in her sleep.

3. Cindy should get rigged
with a button-like mini-cam and wireless mic and accept a one-on-one with Chimpy in the middle of the dirt road just 50 yards or so from the crowd and cameras filming from a distance.

That way the idiots bullshit is on record and synchronized with the long distance video of him in his cowboy hat and boots costume while Cindy cleans his little fucking clock!

I can dream can't I?

4. It's a dream, indeed.
Best thing Cindy can hope for is a private one-on-one inside the ranch, meant to benefit and most favor the President.

She should take it. That's enormous, and proves that civil disobedience can be effective.

6. I think you hit on something right there, though.
proves that civil disobedience can be effective.

Definitely NOT a belief they want to foster in the populace.

14. Might have worked if this would have
happened on Tuesday or Wedensday. Now it's too late. (Besides, who trusts Laura's driving skills...!)
The chimp failed, just like he's failed in everything he's ever done.
That chimp can't get anything right!

16. I doubt it's crossed her mind.
They're just not ready to admit a mistake yet... they can't confront it.

Chimpy must remain isolated. So must Laura. So then send the NSA out to talk to Cindy. How warm, how comforting, from The Compassionate President.

SEND LAURA! It should be our mantra. SEND LAURA!
