Six Democrats Missing in Action-Campaign for America's Future
Activists, take note! Here is a list I just got from CAF to contact the Chiefs of Staff for the following list of Democrats who have voted against the American people and for corporations on all of 4 key issues: the Moral Bankruptcy Bill, Tort Reform, the Energy Bill, and CAFTA.

These individuals are (reading like a list of Who's Who of the DLC):

Henry Cuellar
Blanche Lincoln
Joe Lieberman
Gregory Meeks
Ruben Hinojosa
John Tanner

Here's the link to let them know that even if you aren't a constituent, you can help find them again or make their campaigns more difficult in their next election cycle:

2. Maybe we need to email CAF to edit their list!
I wonder how many others they missed? They said something about these being the group who thought they were in "safe seats" so maybe that was the criterium they used.

6. Only 3, Pryor voted against class action suits.
That Pryor is not in the list should tell us a lot on those in this list.

3. Cuellar stole his election from a decent Democrat incumbent.
Well, he 'found' 300 votes in the vault of a bank that his friend owns, thereby beating out the fairly progressive Ciro Rodriguez in the primary.

9. During a recount. Ciro had won; on recount, new votes appeared.

"On election night, Rodriguez was declared the winner in the Democratic primary, by 145 votes. But after a recount — and the discovery of 115 votes in Webb County and another 304 in a Zapata County bank vault — Cuellar won by 203 votes."

The bank was owned by a friend of Cuellar's.

Ciro fought it but lost somewhere in the Texas courts.

Another article on it:

There was also electronic malfunctioning (or functioning, depending on your perspective):
"Zapata's problems can be traced to counting errors on election night by a faulty optical scan machine used to read paper ballots, said County Clerk Consuelo Villarreal.

On election night, the scanners were found to have a defective computer chip that was improperly counting votes."

4. Perhaps these six are the only ones who voted for all 4 Dubya's bad bills.

5. John Tanner's, at least, not hopeless
You should have seen the reeming he gave Richard Perle at the HASC hearing after pointing out that Wes Clark was absolutely right in his testimony before Congress in 2002 and Perle - purveryor of the candy and flowers story - was wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

I'm a Tennessean, but not a constituent of his.
