DNC? Dean? re: Hackett

I'm sorry, did I miss something here?

I read and listen to progressive talk. I must have missed the backing Paul Hackett received from the party.

Seriously, did he?
He had a hell of a grassroots/blogger run but what occured at the Democratic Party headquarters?

Sorry if I missed it.

1. He got Max Cleland the weekend-before-last.

Beyond that, pretty much gar nichts. I'm of two minds on this.

On one hand, I think the DNC did its usual day-late/dollar-short bit here, when some more resources could've, in theory, helped.

On the other hand, sometimes when you get the establishment people in early, it takes the fire, the independence away from a candidate. Hackett probably wouldn't have called the President an SOB and chickenhawk. And my life would be so much poorer for not having heard a Dem actually saying those things.

My take-away here is that we can win by going on the offensive and calling out the liars. My god, this district has been Reep for 24 years, with an average 15+% margin; we came within 4 points this time.

I hope and pray the DNC learns the lesson--that by being nasty and rude and in-your-face we'll prevail in closer Reep-held districts. My fear is the pink-tutu brigade will look at this and say, "If we hadn't been so gosh-darn rude, we might have won."

Dean said "contest every election" and that's what was done.

If not for the "humidity" in Lizard Queen's hometown, Hackett would probably be the winner this morning. We probably will never know the reality of it.

(I think it's Suzie Turnbull and I think she's vice chair) came out with a busload of volunteers. She had a blog at Kos about DNC efforts. I think she had worked in this district on a campaign at one time. There's some pictures of her at one of the rallies. I also think DNC provided some organizers for the GOTV efforts.

Susie Turnbull wrote diaries on it at Kos. She is the vice chair of the DNC. I have a picture to prove she was there, or pershaps I should say it was up on the internet...Kos or Booman or MyDD, not sure.

The DCCC is the one who as usual was late to the game, and that is their policy. They only support candidates who prove they can get money first.

In case you don't know, DFA raised almost 100,000 for him and had a large group on the ground.

Dean's 50 state strategy was at work in Ohio, and the DNC was involved in it. He was in Birmingham yesterday, and Atlanta tomorrow and maybe today, enemy territory, but the DNC was working with Hackett.

Maybe our nation is coming in from their slumber. Paul Hackett may have done more to save the modern day Democratic Party than anyone in our lifetimes.

Let's get a SENATOR HACKETT elected in 2006. He would shred the less right-wing areas of the states while still probably tracking great numbers in the more Conservative districts. He has the experience of a campaign and now can refine his skills and get to the Senate in 2006.

America needs him in Washington DC.
