the election. The numbers just didn't set right with me. My gut was that Kerry was going to win. Too many voters with Kerry on their mind. I have never seen this or heard this. It doesn't appear anyone with the power gives a crap.

20. Curtis, a software engineer, testified that he wrote a vote rigging
Edited on Sat Jul-30-05 01:34 PM by i miss america
software program at the request of Tom Feeney, a Florida congressmen. The programmer was also told that it need to be able to be used to modify the vote in South Florida, among other places.

Curtis also said that the software, after being run once, would then eat the malicious code to destroy all traces of its existence. The final tally would be a 51% - 49% election.

He also testified that he believes either his code or similiar code was used in the last election because the exit polls are highly reliable.

Please spread the word about the moving link. The testimony is shocking and powerful.

My only question is why the heck hasn't Kerry shouted about this? It bugs the crap outta me that he threw in the towel without a fight. IMO, he let this country down.

"My only question is why the heck hasn't Kerry shouted about this? It bugs the crap outta me that he threw in the towel without a fight. IMO, he let this country down."

A few days ago someone posted a poll...Kerry for 2008? (I'll try to find the link and post it later..) I defended him, and was surprised at the negative response of most of those who responded to the poll. I have since changed my mind. There is NO WAY that Kerry isn't aware of these hearings. The exit polls were correct. WHERE IS KERRY????

32. I'm with you on this. At the time I supported him 100%.
I truly believed in him and that he would do whatever it would take to get this country back on the right track. For heavens sake, his campaign theme song was "No Retreat No Surrender".

How many people stood out in the pouring rain or in +90° heat to see him? Or waited on 10 hour lines to vote for him? Milions and millions of us.

Everywhere he went, he saw tens of thousands of us begging for change. The evidence clearly shows the election (and our democracy) was stolen. When this country needed him most, he chose to keep quiet and throw in the towel.

No way could I support him ever again.

26. Clinton Curtis' story has been well-vetted by election activists;
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 04:26 AM by Peace Patriot
every detail of it has been scrutinized and re-scrutinized, and it appears to be internally consistent and wholly truthful. He also met with John Conyers, and did a sworn affidavit on his testimony.

This is nothing new to the DU "2004 Election Results and Discussion Forum." We've been following this story since he first testified.

You have to realize that our news monopolies are COMPLICIT in the election fraud. All of the TV networks, acting in concert, FALSIFIED the exit poll data on everybody's TV screens on election night--"adjusting" the exit polls (Kerry won) to fit Diebold's and ES&S's "official tally" (Bush won)--a tally derived from computers that were run on SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code. By FALSIFYING the exit poll data, the TV networks and newsprint monopolies deprived the American people of major evidence of fraud--that Kerry won the exit polls--and squelched protests and calls for investigation. They then ignored the January 6 challenge of the Ohio electors in Congress, the Conyers hearings, and all sorts of Ph.D.'s and statistics experts who were crying foul.

They were COMPLICIT. That's why they have deep-sixed this story. In the Ukraine, when this happened--a discrepancy between the exit polls and the official tally--all hell broke loose, tens of thousands of people went into the streets, and they had a new election. That SHOULD have happened here--but the news monopolies HID the evidence.

Some alert techies--mainly Jonathan Simon--grabbed screen shots of the early exit polls on election day, before the TV networks CHANGED them to fit the official tally, and thus the saga of the exit poll data began. The networks have yet to release their raw data--but enough is known about the data to confirm that Bush very likely did not win the election.

The fact that all our votes are tallied using secret, proprietary programming code--owned and controlled by Bushite electronic voting companies--has ALSO not been reported by the news monopolies, and the Democratic Party leadership is guilty of extraordinary malfeasance in permitting this to happen (rightwingers controlling our election system) without screaming bloody murder about it.

And the reasons WHY is something we've all been talking about as well, at the DU election forum. One of the reasons is bipartisan corruption of our state/local election officials through the lavish lobbying of the electronic voting companies. Electronic voting is a billion dollar industry.

Check out this hogfest at the Beverly Hilton--scheduled for next week--sponsored by Diebold, ES&S and Sequoia; a week of fun, sun and corruption for election officials from around the country. It will burn your eyeballs!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x380340

Republican election officials are corrupt on electronic voting because it's to their advantage to have rightwing Republican donors counting all the votes in secret.

Democrats are generally guilty of more venal motives--promises of future jobs, the heady power of controlling these big business deals, and careerism--becoming a "professional" and an "expert" on all the esoterica and gobble-de-gook of electronic voting systems, and lording and ladying it over the dumb voters who haven't a clue any more how their votes are counted.

You'd be shocked at some of the attitudes. They've basically sold out our right to vote. These state/county officials who control electronic voting systems have become more powerful than they should be. They shouldn't have the RIGHT to sell our election system to private companies with "trade secrets" in the contracts. But somehow they do. Many have also bought into PAPERLESS voting--where we have absolutely no way to verify the vote.

And the corruption is federal as well. (Sen. Christopher Dodd, a Dem, is one of the worst.)

I think that electronic voting corruption, combined with the pro-war stance of many Dems, more or less accounts for the Dem concession on election night. I think Kerry was very poorly advised. (I can't--and don't--judge him personally. Who knows what he was dealing with that night? The Bush Cartel are not nice people.) The overall picture is one of a Dem Party that was very compromised going into the election. They should have cried foul on the election system long before election day. The failure occurred way back when electronic voting was first coming on line ('02)--a catastrophic failure of our Party leadership.

The best chance we have of correcting this fundamental problem--and recovering our right to vote--is at the state/local level, where control over election systems still resides, and where ordinary people still have some influence. (There is no chance that Bush's "pod people" in Congress will do anything about this--they like it the way it is.)

Get busy! We cannot do anything about this fascist coup in the White House and in the Congress until we have re-established a transparent, verifiable election system.

27. A simple summary of what is needed:
Paper ballots, hand counted at the precinct level...

or at the least...

Paper BALLOT (not "paper trail") backup of all electronic voting machines, strict auditing (f.i., a 10% automatic recount) and strict security, and NO secret, proprietary programming code.

There should also be a ban on partisan activity by any voting machine vendor, and on lobbying (such as this disgraceful business at the Beverly Hilton). And a ban on "revolving door" employment.

Our election system has been Corporatized. That's the bottom line. And we've got to get it un-Corporatized--or our democracy is over.

---------

Note: Canada has a paper ballot system that works perfectly well, and efficiently. (They get the ballots counted in one day--and it is all transparent and aboveboard.) Germany also has a good old-fashioned paper ballot system, with a strong exit poll component to verify the election and check for fraud. Venezuela uses electronics, but they have open source code (no secret programming)--and their elections have been intensely monitored by dozens of international election groups, including the Carter Center, all of which have confirmed honest, transparent results.

You know what the Carter Center said about OUR election system? They said that our system doesn't meet MINIMAL international standards for transparency and verifiability, and they therefore COULD NOT monitor the 2004 election.

In other words, Venezuela got an "A" and the United States, the mother of all democracies, got an "F."

We need to catch up with Venezuela on the fundamentals of democracy--such as a verifiable vote count and majority rule.

Election fraud is on the brink of becoming institutionalized almost beyond recovery.

This is why Andy Stephenson's work was so desperately important to this Country and it's future.

28. I think they are talking about Ray Lemme...
who was not a reporter, he was an investigator.

Here is a bradblog report on Lemme:
http://www.bradblog.com/archives/00001243.htm

Excerpts:

CLINT CURTIS INVESTIGATOR'S 'SUICIDE' CASE REOPENED BY GEORGIA POLICE!
Raymond Lemme Crime Scene Photos Said Not to Exist are Published on Net!
Photos, Evidence and FDOT Involvement with Valdosta, GA Police Raise New Questions in Mysterious Death!

-snip-

The case of the mysterious suicide of Raymond Lemme of the Florida Inspector General's office was reopened by Valdosta, Georgia police last December shortly after we broke the story of computer programmer Clint Curtis' sworn affidavit charging that he had built a "vote-rigging software prototype" at the request of Rep. Tom Feeney (R-FL)!

-snip-

The Chinese spy reported by Curtis was eventually indicted and pled guilty to espionage charges (see this previous BRAD BLOG report for more details). For their part, YEI was recently found -- in the IG's final report begun by Lemme in 2001 and finally released in February 2005 -- to have billed FDOT for more than $300,000 in "questionable charges" (see this recent BRAD BLOG report for more info on that).

THE 'BIG' CASE...

In his 2004 affidavit, Curtis describes a mid-June 2003 meeting with Lemme in which he claims that Lemme told him he "had tracked the corruption 'all the way to the top' and that the story would break in the next few weeks and I would be satisfied with the results."

On July 1, 2003 -- just two weeks later -- Raymond Camillo Lemme was found dead in a bathtub, with his arm slashed twice with a razor blade near the left elbow in Room #132 of the Knights Inn motel in Valdosta, Georgia; a border-town some 80 miles from Tallahassee, Florida where Lemme lived and worked.

-snip-
