Scarborough on Rove and "circling the wagons for ideological soul mates"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6330851/

Imagine Bill Clinton's top political advisor leaking a CIA agent's identity because of the actions of the agent's spouse. Republicans, including yours truly, would have been demanding that official's resignation at once.

But with one of their own in the White House, Republicans are instead focusing their attacks on former ambassador Joe Wilson. Though Wilson is an easy target for writing a book filled with lies with the ironic title "The Politics of Truth," do Republicans suggest that a CIA agent can be called out during a time of war because of their spouse's misdeeds? If so, it is a frightening new world for undercover agents who are paid to protect our country.

Apply the same test to the media that I applied to the Rove dust-up. How would the media respond to a Republican ambassador who wrote a campaign check to George W. Bush, lied through his teeth about a CIA investigation, got caught in his lies, and then wrote a book called "The Politics of Truth"? I suspect the media would have left little more than a grease spot where that lying GOP ambassador once stood. But not so in Joe Wilson's case. As an anti-war Democrat who supported John Kerry in 2004, he was protected by a media machine who shared his sentiments.

So why don't Americans trust politicians or press members anymore? Because in cases like Karl Rove, all sides are circling the wagons for their ideological soul mates instead of telling American people the truth.

5. Yeah Joe
What if a Republican congressman from Florida turned up a dead intern in his office? Huh? Think he'd ever get the Clinton treatment? Even after an anguished citizen tried to call him out on the air on MSNBC about it?

Do you have anything to say about his actual point or will you just refer to past personal history of his?

9. "Scarborough Laughs About Dead Staffer on Imus show"
From The Daily Dystopian:

Scarborough Laughs About Dead Staffer

Conservative MSNBC news host Joe Scarborough was a guest on MSNBC's Imus show last Thursday, May 29.

In complementing Scarborough on his sense of humor, Imus said, "Don't be afraid to be funny, because you are funny. I asked you why you aren't in Congress. You said that you had sex with the intern and then you had to kill her." To which Scarborough laughed, "Yeah, ha, ha ha, well, what are you gonna do?"

That would be Lori Klausutis, the intern who was found dead in Scarborough's office.

15. Fools rush in, where angels fear to tread...Point of fact...There was no
'yellowcake'. The whole reason to gho into Iraq was the "WMD threat"; it does not exist.

The whole thing is based on lies, and Wilson told the truth; now he's being villified to cover the losses of the admin.

This is the truth...Wilson stated no connection to Niger and 'yellowcake'....everything else is an add on to protect bush/Cheney/Rove/Libby.

Keep the whole thing in context...Wilson spoke the truth, and if listened to, 1700+ of our people would still be alive.

This is right. That was the main point, it was just a bad coincidence that it was a shitty messenger. We should only be focussing on the message (wilson relayed) and applying it this administration. Wilson shouldn't even be defended by democrats at all though, only his claims should. By even being associated with Wilson through words, we draw attention to his credibility and away from his credible claims.

It's also LESS than fruitless to deludedly engage in discourse with individuals interested in merely using the discussion itself as a forum for spreading lies, propaganda, and deceit.

My own approach is to "set the hook" quickly and hit Alert. I use artificial bait and refuse to Feed The Trolls.

Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 11:24 AM by rasputin1952
for that. The RW is going well out if it's way to discredit him, but they do not go to the core, there was no connection with WMD's. They are the liars, partial truth is still a lie, something they do not seem to understand.

Wilson is getting smashed around because he came back with honest info, it is not the Left that is wronged, it is the RW that is crushing the truth for their own nefarious purpose.

Don't go by what the RW media says, nor by what the spinmeisters put forth. Bottom line, there was no connection to WMD's and Niger, Wilson reported that, it was ignored. Like little kids caught in a lie, the Admin is screaming that they were wronged. they blew it, now they should be held accountable.

Just for fun, what did Plame have to do w/the whole thing, and why was it deemed necessary to 'out' her to discredit Wilson?

7. "The Mayor of Looneyville, Capital of Scarborough Country"
as Jon Stewart once called him...

"Apply the same test to the media that I applied to the Rove dust-up. How would the media respond to a Republican ambassador who wrote a campaign check to George W. Bush, lied through his teeth about a CIA investigation, got caught in his lies, and then wrote a book called "The Politics of Truth"?"
What lie does Crazy Joe think Wilson told about the CIA investigation?

The "got caught in his lies" is especially pungent--it wasn't Wilson who had to desprately try to spin away "16 words"...

36. After a brief respite, back to the OP....
:)

While I despise Scarborough w/a serious passion....he makes a point.
There were cries against Clinton for what seems like eons, and only reference to a quick 'sexual escapade' brought charges. "Lying Under Oath" to be specific. No one was killed, no war was started, no national security issues; only an embarrassment brought on by RW zealots.

If, as Scarborough alludes, there were an R in the WH when the 'scandal' erupted during the Clinton years, nothing would have been said/done.

Now that a serious breach of national security exists, lies under oath are accepted as the norm, 1700+ Americans have died in Iraq, untold thousands of Iraqis/Afghans have vanished off the face of the earth; there is no outcry from the self proclaimed "defenders of the Truth"....:wtf:

This is not to mention the entire world wondering where the US is coming from, and how we could possibly be so hypocritical. This is the type of "Democracy" we want to spread over the world? If I were sitting in Europe or South America, I'd be worried too. Justice is one of the Hallmarks we always refer to when there is a situation that needs to be dealt with. Sure, sometimes we err, but at least we've tried, and usually succeed. There is nothing of Justice in the Rove scenario...it is all about 'privilege' and hubris. This is why that SOB and this whole administration will be viewed as damn near demonic in the future.

The cards have been dealt, the bush administration will go down in history as "The Worst Administration in the History of the United States". I cannot think of anyone getting any lower than this gaggle of buffoons.
