Dear Friends,
WOW! We just filed our FEC report last week, and over 6,708 of you contributed a total of $305,048 to Bernie's campaign, making an average contribution of about $45.50 a person.
This is an extraordinary number of contributors for this early in a Senate campaign. It means a great deal to us that so many people throughout the country, including supporters without a lot of money, are prepared to contribute $20, $50 or $100. This is the kind of grass-roots movement that will bring this historic campaign to victory.
During the same period Bernie's likely Republican opponent, multi-millionaire Richard Tarrant, filed papers and announced he intends to spend at least $1 million of his OWN money in the race for Vermont's open Senate seat. He has previously stated that he is prepared to spend up to $5 million out of his own pocket. This, of course, does not include the millions more that the national Republican Party and corporate America are ready to spend against Bernie.
This week, soon after filing, Bernie started podcasting on
www.bernie.org , and his first podcast is a thank you to all of you who already helped out the campaign-- with dollars and momentum-- by your contribution.
Listen to the podcast here:

From Bernie and all of us who are fighting hard to elect a real progressive to the US Senate, thank you very much for your support.
