"Washington is a mean town, But Karl Rove does not deserve this fate"
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID...

But just as Rove did not intend to blow Plames cover, so the Democrats demanding his head are not very interested in upholding the statute in question. Their motives are totally political. They want revenge against Rove for his successful role in piloting the Bush election and re-election campaigns, and they want to be sure that Bush does not have access to Karls advice in the remaining years of his second term.

Washington is a mean town where human sacrifice has been raised to an art form. But Karl Rove does not deserve this fate. He has served loyally and well, resisting enormous opportunities to leave midway and reap a bonanza of income in the private sector. He has shown himself to be a man of uncommon integrity and selflessness in serving this administration and this country. He should not be tossed to the partisan wolves.

Bush, having appointed a special prosecutor and pledged to fire anyone who was responsible for revealing Plames identity, cannot just sweep the matter under the rug. But he should allow Rove to clear his name through the normal process of investigation and testimony.

He should keep Karl onboard, stipulating only that he fully answer all questions from a grand jury as he has done already? should the prosecutor need him to appear again. If Rove is indicted or even named as a target, Bush will have to let him go. But thats not going to happen based on the current fact pattern, and Bush should not let himself be pushed ahead of the process by firing Rove.

1. Oh, boohoo.
When Republicans do the things they have done in recent years, it's time for mercy to go to somebody who deserves it.

Have you lost your mind? Karl Rove is finally reaping what he has spent a lifetime sowing. Instant Karma has finally found Karl Rove...

5. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner...
...and yes, that was my exact reason for posting this.

"Washington is mean BECAUSE of him."

I hope that John McCain's adopted daughter never has to learn that Rove canvassed the redneck south and asked the people there how they felt about his "illegitimate black child."

Since she's adopted and Bangladeshi, not black and illegitimate, she could potentially contribute to the meanness that's being sent in Saint Rove's direction.

Or she might just turn out to be the better person and think to herself "this man needs HELP."

7. So, if he gives secret answers to secret questions, we assume the best
We assume he didn't mean to do it, didn't mean to give out secrets, didn't mean to ruin the wife of a civil servant because he had the temerity to go against Bush, didn't mean to have Scottie lie about it.

All because he gave secret answers to somebody else about his conduct?

Bull.

8. Karl Rove does not deserve
any more chances. He should be tarred and feathered and ridden out of Washington on a rail. Then he should be tried, convicted and shot for treason.

10. Large crocodile tears here!
I feel so bad for Karl (haha, ha, the worm). I wish (like hell I do) that people wouldn't be so mean to poor little turdblossom. What he ever do to deserve this viciousness?

Oh, other than dirty tricks in every campaign he has ever gotten near?

Now that I think about it, go ahead and be mean to Rover, he does deserve it!

21. Typical egocentric, fratboy conservatism: they're jealous of us
They hate us for our freedoms. There are only two kinds of people (fill in name of exclusive organization here) and people who want to be in it.

It's all the same. It's the Reagan-era tough-guy strutting: we're better than anyone else, and anyone complaining is just a nobody. They deserve to be losers because they're simply inferior.

The arrogant claims of the right of aristocracy have always disgusted me about conservatives. There's a sheer meanness to this feeling of privilege, and yet it attracts all sorts of fools who will do anything to be on the winning side.

23. John Kerry didn't deserve to lose due to Rove's slimy tactics
and lies. Veterans didn't deserve to be treated as traitors either. Rove is as low as they get- he deserves to be fired, jailed and so much more.

24. The article's right: Karl does NOT deserve this fate
But being only humans, and not omnipotent beings, we can't deal with him in quite the manner he deserves.

Think Cthulu.

Rove is the one who made politics a "blood sport."

The neocon chickenhawks have indeed come home to roost.
