Everything bush is involved in turns to shit. Those conservatives really care about family values by either getting the head of household killed in combat or making marriage untenable. (Personal opinion: If the war were publicly accepted with universal appeal as worth doing, such numbers would not be as high.)

Combine stress of combat with poverty, and there's your problem.

Anyone notice how military bases are surrounded by paycheck cashing places (which charge annualized interest rates that are usorious) and liquor stores?

And don't forget the pawnshops and rent-to-own places, and the easy-credit car lots, and... and...

And as for the contributing factors, in addition to the stress of combat, and poverty, gotta add the plain old uncertainty and resentment of the stateside spouses who are "stuck" with *all* the day-to-day issues which come up... and the very real fact that a year apart doesn't exactly reinforce the couples' bond (as Double T alluded to below), especially a (usually) young couple who, in all likelihood, haven't had that long to build their relationship, to begin with.

It's a shit situation all around, but we probably shouldn't say anything about it or we won't be Supporting The Troops® !
