CRITICAL: Thank 7 Republican senators for their support
Edited on Wed May-25-05 11:17 AM by wtmusic
Whether you think the Senate compromise sucked or not, this is a fact: we stand little chance of stopping extremist Supreme Court nominations without the Republicans who bucked Frist and Junior to compromise.

The compromise looks more tenuous day by day, and they are getting massive heat from the religious right. It is CRITICAL that we thank them (phrasing is important--thank you Sen. Reid) for taking the "nuclear option" off the table, preserving the integrity of the Senate, and rejecting the extreme agenda of Senator Frist and the President:

Sen. John McCain (AZ) 202-224-2235 Fax: 202-228-2862
Sen. John Warner (VA) 202-224-2023 Fax: 202-224-6295
Sen. Susan Collins (ME) 202-224-2523 Fax: 202-224-2693
Sen. Olympia Snowe (ME) 202-224-5344 Fax: 202-224-1946
Sen. Mike DeWine (OH) 202-224-2315 Fax: 202-224-6519
Sen. Lindsey Graham (SC) 202-224-5972 Fax: 202-224-3808
Sen. Lincoln Chafee (RI) 202-224-2921 Fax: 202-228-2853

1. Exactly!
Thank you for the post and the list with numbers.

I will start my calls. :patriot:

I don't care what folks think about the compromise, at least we still have the filibuster. Having made calls on Monday to members of the senate, I know how lucky we are to have it. The votes were for a compromise or for nuclear option. The filibuster was doomed had it not been for the compromise. IMHO

:toast: Thanks wtmusic :hi:

2. Even if you don't like the deal, they should get props for breaking rank.
They went out on a political limb, and you know damn well that the NeoCon machine will be dishing out some payback. If all they get is scorn from the lefties in this country, what incentive will they have to do what is right as opposed to what is beneficial. Thank them!
