League of Conservation Voters endorses Kerry!
http://www.lcv.org/

CONCORD, NH – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) today endorsed Senator John Kerry for President of the United States. This endorsement is the earliest ever in the organization’s 34-year history.

“John Kerry is a man whose unparalleled record on environmental issues has earned him an extraordinary lifetime rating from the League of Conservation Voters, and he is clearly the strongest environmentalist in the field,” said Deb Callahan, president of LCV. “John Kerry understands that the American people need a president who will never roll over to corporate contributors at the expense of the health and safety of the public.”

“I urge citizens and environmentalists in New Hampshire to cast their vote for John Kerry on Tuesday,” said Ms. Callahan.

Over the next three days in New Hampshire and later in other upcoming primary states, LCV and its local partners will be working tirelessly in a focused, independent, get-out-the-vote effort on behalf of John Kerry’s campaign.

This is awesome!

4. This is actually odd for LCV
they generally wait until much later in the primary season to endorse. This is GREAT news for Kerry! :-)

22. Also
A good indication of where N.H. liberal swing vote will go, as most of the liberal independnets in that state are geared towards envoronmental issues. (Progressive and Green)

11. God...I'm so f'n tired of this crap.....
I really am. I'm not even a Kerry supporter but I find the way people are reacting like nothing more than a bunch of overgrown tempermental babies to be pathetic. And I'm sick and f'n tired of people telling me what a good liberal has to base their vote on.

I really just want to stop coming here until the nominee (whoever it is) is picked so I don't have to watch a bunch of whiners preach to me about what is and isn't important and spit their conspiracy theories out at me. Of course I lack the will power to stay away and stay out of GD04.

15. thanks vi5
unfortunately I don't expect it to stop. As soon as Kerry took the lead in polls there have been non-stop threads about skulls and bones and other equally retarded stuff. Although I may not like some of the candidates I know that I have never stooped to the level of posting complete conspiracy bullshit. And I'm glad that there are others that are doing the same :-)

10. Wow! Usually they don't endorse so early.
Kerry totally deserves this one, whatever you think of him on other issues, he OWNS the environment more than anyone else in the field.

anyone know how much this would help i new hampshire. since the primary is just a few days ago how effective could it be ? especially their independent get out the vote effort ? i assume they will take that to other states also, but was wondering about new hampshire specifically.

17. He DOES have
a great envionmental record, I'll give him that. I believe he has a % (roughly) lifetime score vs. 68% for Edwards.

20. Kerry is as green as they come on environmental issues.
This endorsement is very well deserved. He's pushed for new fuel sources that don't pollute, tougher fuel-efficiency standards, greater national attention to global warming and the Kyoto protocols, and against ANWR drilling. He also has the endorsement of RFK Jr., who wrote that great article in the Rolling Stone about the environmental abuses of George W. Bush. It was a long article.

25. The only two endorsements that make any difference to me in every election
are the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters and the firefighters. You can guess who I support in this primary.

27. and there was no difficulty in them
deciding on who to endorse. it was an easy decision. i didn't know lcv had a record of endorsing later so this was really telling. but i'm not surprised knowing kerry's great record on the issue. the same goes with firefighters. there was no question as to who they would support.

26. Expected, but still unbelievable
I think John Kerry's greatest strength is his environmentalism/energy politics. His other stuff's great too, but this is his ace. What's great about this is that this is an issue that reaches over the left-right wings. It's more like a people-corporation split, and we need those people's votes. Next up, the Sierra Club!
