For those of you thinking this is a defeat
Think of this:

We probably didn't have the votes to stop the nuclear option. We would have probably lost that vote....

In that case:

We would have lost the vote on Owens.

We would have lost the right to filibuster.

We would have be publicly pummelled by the repubs for "shutting down" the Senate or even a mild "slowdown" in the Senate.

We got half a loaf.....and there is no guarantee that the moderate "center" will vote for all three nutcases anyway...

It's a small victory. I'll take them where I can these days....

2. I think of Bush as such a destroyer
A person who likes to make people around the world eat shit and like it. He wanted to destroy the senate and it didn't happen. For this reason I'm glad today.

Time will tell but for now I'm glad because the psycho didn't get his way - all the way. And I'm enjoying seeing him get punched out at the top of this page celebrating the end of the current DU fundraiser.
