Up next: Discrediting the Blogs
So CBS and Newsweek got kicked around. Most the media is gun shy now. Bill Moyers notes that this Internet consortium of blogs and news sites will be the new guardian of the media. How will the Blogs and Internet Media be attacked? What should we watch for? Will DU be a target?

1. They won't attack until they see how they can exploit first
priorities.

4. Who cares.
Blogs promise opinion and rely on other news sources for information. They don't have the responsibility that Newsweek has. The problem for the blogs is that as the censorship on the news media increases, the blogs will have more and more difficulty getting information. As it is, bloggers rely on the FOIA, which is in danger as a source if people like Owens take over the courts, and the corporate media, which is more and more fearful of crossing Bush and the powers that be. What would Jefferson, Madison, Franklin, and the other Founding Fathers (except Adams) do?

5. MSM has had an epiphany
about the power here. CNN does a bit on it every day but it is painfully obvious they cannot challenge it

6. It seems I remeber O'liely once making a comment about blogs...
(and I'm paraphrasing) that they are mostly just a bunch of radicals creating crazy rumors and accusations that they don't have to answer to, basically saying that they could be a dangerous source of misinformation.

Along those lines, I would watch out for the government somehow regulating the blogs (FCC regulations?), but I'm just speculating.

8. They already have been
They were viscious attack and spin machines when they were calling out Bush on his bullhshit.

But suddenly they were bastions of truth and our only free press during the whole Rather mess.

Liberal blogs bad.

Conservative blogs good.
