Reporters challenge McClellan on soruces, Newsweek
His sources good, their sources bad? In the wake of the Newsweek scandal, reporters at today's press briefing asked the White House spokesman how he can be so critical of single, anonymous sources when he insists reporters use them in his own backgrounders. They also ask what exactly he wants Newsweek to do now, and is the White House exerting undue pressure?

2. Were they set up
inda Weltner, former Boston Globe Columnist for 19 years, and member of the class-action lawsuit which the Boston Globe Freelancers' Association lost in court, writes:

"I have no doubt that both the person who gave Dan Rather faulty information and this Pentagon spokesman set up CBS and Newsweek. Even if the informants were considered reliable sources, who's to say that someone didn't hand them what was described as truthful information.

"Just wait a few months. They've hit TV and magazines; a major newspaper is next. Big media think being subservient will protect them, but subservient isn't good enough for this bunch."
