Why would Newsweek apologize? FOR WHAT?!?
This whole thing stinks to high heaven, I see no upside to Newsweek caving on this, it makes them look stupid, and trashes their credibility, plus it make people like me see them as a stooge of the Bush administration.

If anything, they should step up their reporting and start digging as to why this government source changed his tune. THAT'S A STORY! What the heck is going on here!!

Dammit, a little dose of truth would be nice here.

2. Good question.
Once they are sufficiently intimidated, the White House knows they have complete control of the media. And the media is intimidated.

4. For believing anything from a senior administration official.
Remember, the guy who can't get his/her facts straight is someone who was personally selected by George Bush.

That is a meme that needs spreading.

5. Of course it is. It diverts attention from the real stories
the one from London about the Bush conspiracy, about the increasing deficit, about the uncertainly of too many about jobs, health care, retirement

About the obscene salary that CEOs of insurance companies have while million are without insurance..

Muslims in the Middle East are fed up with the continuing presence of the United States there and all they need is an excuse to riot.
