Some of us are paying attention and this is one more step towards active fascism... can you say PAPERS NOW!

Apart of the fact that the USSC has ruled that I don't need to have an ID... and that mebbe a social security number can be used as one (and don't lie to the cop while at it) this is a very bad idea. This is an internal passport, mark my words. These will be used to allow the "right people" to work. No, this is not paranoia, this is reality...

ID's of this type have been used historically like this.

I must ask, why do they (republicans, specifically Sensinbrenner and the Neo Con Movement) hate us for our freedoms?

They are out of the box on this one, and are trying to avoid the I don't enforce the USPA by making it impossible for oh I don't know Hawaiians or Vermonter's to fly if they don't play in the system. Moreover, what happened to the treasured state rights?

Oh never mind, they have wanted to do this (control the population) for years. as they don't believe the people are bright enough to be their bosses. Government is not there to do the work for the people and gosh golly if need be we can lie to them, it is for their own good. (Yes this IS Leo Strauss) This national ID is in a way a lie, for what they want is full surveillance of a free people. I must ask again... why do they hate the American people and the US Constitution so much?

1. I liked the idea of some of our fellow DUers.

Regarding the "Real" ID's, just simply tamper with yours the day you get it. See that magnetic strip, run a magnet over it, "uh oh, no more information." See that RFID, use a hole-punch to remove it. "Uh oh, no more of my information freely floating in space." See that.... Do I have to continue. Just because they make you apply for one, doesn't necessarily mean they have to make you use it to it's full potential. "I'm sorry Mr. officer, I just got this ID a few weeks ago, but for some reason it doesn't seem to work anymore. I wonder why?" Hmmm....

5. The problem is more than the ID card

Kennedy made a speech today in the Senate that it also includes a lot of provisions that would get rid of habeus corpus in many situations and make very difficult political asylium.

In brief, this is an addition to Patriot Act. Unfortunately, Dems are too busy arguing about other issues to really see what it is about.

6. Don't accept it

This could be the first real National civil disobedience campaign. If the meme gets out and about, the very thought process involved about whether to take the ID will force people to evaluate where their govt is taking them. The current regime won't survive much of that.
