Will this trip abroad help Bush's poll numbers ?
Normally, most presidents do benefit from trips abroad. However, Bush has made such an ass of himself on this trip and antagonized several leaders, will he come back in worse shape than when he left? Of course, he always has his base to worship him, no matter how much he screws up...

1. I don't think cavorting with Putin
will do wonders.

Plus, Americans, in general, seem to be so apathetic to the political process, I sincerely doubt people care that much (if they know at all).

2. I doubt it
Though I then I wouldn't approve of any thing he did anyway. I think people would rather see gas prices go down than see him in Europe.

3. I'm not sure about that. The media will paint it like a successful trip-
he will do some cutesy things with Putin (didn'the drive Putin's car?)and he will make some "bold pronouncements" and the TV watchers will suck it up. The media makes this idiot into the form that Rove wants.

6. On the visit in the Netherlands - CNN wrote about the protests there

Check out link
http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/05/07/dutch.protest.ap/

But of course the protests were actually much larger then reported
8000 showed up (See link for great photos)

So Media pretty didn't do their job, and Americans hardly followed it. They have to know that he deeply unpopular, but then again his base couldn't care less about that.

7. Help? With whom? His fundie followers and swallowers don't know
foreign relations and political science and what is good for the country...all he has to do is bluster and they will 'know' it's a success in the way they rate successes. Tell 'em George - the way Ronnie did.

The rest of us know that he and the policies he's pitching are an embarassment to the country. Exporting democracy? Preaching democracy? It's a transparent fraud. Everyone now knows we don't have a democracy anymore. We have a fascist government with shades of other isms thrown in and it's on its way to a theocracy.

And there is NO WAY OUT at the moment, because we DON'T HAVE a vote or the right people in Congress.
