Fox: War in Iraq "first catered war in history" (Halliburton Infomercial)
Talk about "putting a positive spin" on the Iraq War. The day after 300 photos were released of flag-draped coffins returning home (http://ragno.imag.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv/NSAEBB/NSAEBB152/casket_exhibit.html), our friends at Fair 'n' Balanced Fox want you to know that our soldiers are linin' up for some DAMN FINE EATIN'...all lovingly provided by Kellog, Brown, and Root, a subsidiary of Evil Dick Cheney Industries.

NOTE: This is a VIDEO on the Fox site. You need to go to the main page (http://www.foxnews.com/), and on the right-side navigation bar for videos, under "Only On Fox," look for the video called "Bon Appetit."

They're serving up death, dismemberment, AND...

Stir Fry!

Made-To-Order Salads!

Fresh Fruit!

Pasta!

Pizza!

Chicken!

Hamburgers!

Custom-Made Sandwiches!

2. And what a fine job they did... (article from Dec 2003)
Contractor served troops dirty food in dirty kitchens

The Pentagon repeatedly warned contractor Halliburton-KBR that the food it served to US troops in Iraq was "dirty," as were as the kitchens it was served in, NBC News reported on Friday.

Halliburton-Kellogg Brown and Root's promises to improve "have not been followed through," according to a Pentagon report that warned "serious repercussions may result" if the contractor did not clean up.

The Pentagon reported finding "blood all over the floor," "dirty pans," "dirty grills," "dirty salad bars" and "rotting meats ... and vegetables" in four of the military messes the company operates in Iraq, NBC said, citing Pentagon documents.

(snip)

The Pentagon found unclean conditions at four locations in Iraq, including one in Baghdad and two in Tikrit. Even the mess hall where Bush served troops their Thanksgiving dinner was dirty in August, September and October, according to NBC.

3. Unbelievable.
I guess it's obvious that Fox neglected to mention this in their report.

But hey...they DID say that there's "lots and lots of ICE CREAM!"

:grr:

4. Back in my day, when the mess halls were strictly military, with
military mess cooks answerable to NCOs who were answerable to officers, the food might be atrocious but it was safe to eat. You might get sick looking at it, but never got sick from eating it.

On behalf of our servicemen and women, Thanks, Dick.

5. An army travels on its stomach
and should be able to feed itself--not depend on war profiteers who may or may not show up where they're needed.
