At the rate that * and the country is going. Whoever runs and gets the nomimination in 2008 is going to have a massive, I mean MASSIVE mess to clean up after * leaves office. That's why I think it's important to focus on 2006 and voting reform (if we ever get that far).

Just something for DUers to think about.

2. Exactly.
2006 is next year. 2008 is far away. Clinton was able to do great things but just imagine what would have happened if there were a stronger Congress.

At any rate, we are seeing the sort of mess that's coming out of Bush's last 4 years. If Kerry got the White House you know that the pukes would have been salivating at the chance to blame everything Bush did on Kerry.

3. Focusing on 2006 instead of continuing the primary wars of 2004 is
exactly what we should be doing, oh wise politicasista! You are right!

4. You're damn right about that massive mess.

As much as it pains me to see Kerry denied the presidency, I held no illusions (ever) that it would have been anything other than a straight uphill climb for him from election night on. And he would have borne all manner of scapegoat label for the inevitable "failures" he would have had in his first term making much real progress in beginning to fix this catastrophe. If anyone could do it, I felt it would be him, but I was dreading seeing him portrayed as ineffectual and God knows what other terrible thing because of how unlikely it was that he--or anyone--was going to effect much in the way of improvement for a goodly long time.
